Bob’s Burgers is a delightful television show and one of the most enjoyable animated shows for adults out there. The lovable Belchers might not have it all together but they definitely love each other. Their three kids, Tina, Gene, and Louise, all have distinct personalities and their own hilarious moments.

Gene Belcher might be the most underrated of the three Belcher kids, but he is full of hilarious quotes. He’s comfortable with himself and knows what makes him unique and wonderful. We’ve collected a list of 10 of the best Gene Belcher quotes to inspire you to be yourself and march to your own drum, just like Gene.

"I’M MORE OF AN INDOOR KID."

"I can't survive in the wild. I've been declawed!"

Gene knows that going outside and playing with friends is way overrated. In this episode, Bob fires the kids so they can have a more normal childhood, but Gene and his sisters aren’t sure what to do with themselves and all of their free time.

This quote is an example of the type of over-the-top humor Gene expresses when he is dismayed over something. Gene loves to sit on the couch and play on his keyboard, he doesn’t want to be forced to play outside all summer, which is definitely relatable.

“MY LIFE IS MORE DIFFICULT THAN ANYONE ELSE’S ON THE PLANET,"

"And yes, I'm including starving children so don't ask!"

We’ve all had these kinds of moments when it just feels like our lives are so bad. Especially as kids, even small things can seem like a huge deal. Of course, parents are always there to remind their kids that no matter how bad things seem, there are some kids in the world who have it a lot worse.

Gene expresses how hard his life is in this hyperbolic quote, which anticipates that standard parental reaction perfectly. One thing Bob’s Burgers is good at doing is capturing the essence and humor of being a kid, and this quote by Gene is a great example of that.

"I THINK I HAVE THE BEST LEGS IN THE FAMILY,"

"And the smoothest bottom!"

If there’s one thing Gene has, it’s a lot of confidence. He’s a body positive guy, and it’s definitely one of his best qualities. Gene embraces his best qualities and doesn’t pick apart his body or see how he is as a flaw.

This is definitely something that we can all be inspired by. Gene isn’t afraid to be loud and proud about how awesome he is, and with his skills with popping and locking it, we bet he really does have the best legs in the Belcher family.

“I’VE EATEN NINE BIRTHDAY CAKES AND I STILL FEEL EMPTY!”

Gene loves to eat, and this is also one of the most relatable things about him. With this quote, he expresses what it’s like to try and eat your feelings but still not feel any better after. Of course, he's only referring to the fact that he, Tina, and Louise have been crashing birthday parties while Bob practices getting better at Burger Boss.

Luckily, Gene doesn’t judge himself for eating too much or trying to make himself feel better with cake. Sometimes, eating some cake is the best way to try and feel better anyway.

“GIRLS BEING GIRLS BEING GIRLS BEING GIRLS.”

Another thing about Gene Belcher that’s so great is how he doesn’t have any hang-ups when it comes to gender. Sometimes, he refers to himself as a boy and a brother and other times he refers to himself as a girl and a sister. These moments are written well in the show and aren’t ever commented on.

No one in the Belcher family cares about what gender markers he uses at any given time. This quote is from a song Gene wrote when he tried to form a new girl group, and Gene really belts this line out to the best of his ability, inspiring people of all genders everywhere.

"YOU SAVED US, GENE. I OWE YOU MY LIFE." "NO, THANKS."

"I've seen it, and I'm not impressed."

When Gene saves Tina’s life in Florida, despite his fear of snakes ("Where are their arms and legs? It's not okay!"), she tries to thank Gene, but Gene isn’t really having it.

Sometimes, Gene Belcher delivers some lines with dry humor, and this is one of those times. Gene is great at delivering a line that’s a play on words to hilarious impact. Gene doesn’t want Tina’s life full of puberty angst, and, instead, his happy to stay 11 for the foreseeable future.

“WAS IT OBVIOUS I DON’T CARE?”

We have all had these moments where we just can’t be bothered. As the middle child between two very distinct personalities, it’s no wonder that sometimes Gene just can’t be asked to care anymore. Between Louise’s slightly cruel tendencies and Tina’s obsession with boys and middle school drama, sometimes poor Gene just needs a break to compose songs on his keyboard and eat some food.

What makes this quote even better is that it also highlights Gene's tendency toward straightforwardness and honesty. He's not afraid to let everyone around him know how he feels.

“YOU SHOULD KNOW WHEN YOU HOLD HANDS WITH ME,”

"You are holding hands with everything I've ever eaten."

This is another quote that reminds us all of Gene’s type of humor. He is all about food, but the show never makes this fact out to be a bad thing. The show never fat shames or body shames Gene, but instead makes his love of food a relatable thing and something to be embraced.

Gene is also really open about the gross parts of being a human and having a human body, and he’s not afraid to talk about these things either.

“UGH, SUMMER IS AWFUL. THERE’S TOO MUCH PRESSURE TO ENJOY YOURSELF."

Bob's Burgers Season 6 finale Gene Louise Linda Tina

"It's like New Year's Eve for kids!"

As a kid, summer is the time of year that you wait all year for. With three months of no school, summer is supposed to be the perfect time full of fun and sun. Gene reminds us all of how much pressure that can be when you’re young. And, in the same quote, reminds us all as adults of how New Year’s Eve is never as much of a fun party as we expect it to be.

Gene ends up being right in his assessment when the kids encounter nothing but bad luck as they try to have any type of summer fun, which is why they end up working at a couple,s "blueberry" farm (which is actually a front for selling marijuana).

*FART NOISES*

Gene loves to capture fart noises on his keyboard and incorporate them into his compositions. Sometimes, he will just use a fart noise for emphasis after he or someone else says something. And, other times, he will compose entire songs that incorporate fart noises into them. Gene has no shame about his farts and other bodily functions, and he uses fart noises as an art form.

This tendency was highlighted perfectly in the episode, "The Frond Files," when Gene's short story was singled out by Mr. Frond and contained an incredible, full-on rock opera number about how farts will set you free (and also they are liberty).
