A talented Pokémon and Animal Crossing: New Horizons fan has expertly introduced the new Gen 9 Starter Pokémon to their island, perfectly recreating the pocket monsters with a mod. Along with elaborate five-star island designs and impressive builds, some fans of ACNH take it a step further and create realistic mods that can be added and used in the game.

With the recent announcement of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, fans have already shown their love and support for the new Starters - Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxley - in a variety of ways including fan art and hand-made creations. With its announcement right on the heels of the release of Pokémon Legends: Arceus in January, which has been praised by both fans and critics alike for its new mechanics and gameplay, players are anxiously awaiting future updates about the next release from Game Freak. With both Pokémon and Animal Crossing being informally classed as "cozy games" among fans, many Animal Crossing players are excited for the release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Artist and game modder doom_mori has impressed Twitter with a look at their Gen 9 Pokémon Starter villager mod for the latest Animal Crossing title. Since Scarlet and Violet's announcement, doom-mori has been hard at work creating their own Starter villagers and has shared updates of these mods as they've been being created. doom-mori shared their first teaser with a screenshot of a 3D model of Quaxley as a duck villager. Moving onto Fuecoco as an alligator villager and Sprigatito as a cat villager, all three have stunned followers with their realistic Animal Crossing graphics, as well as the craftsmanship behind the mod. Unfortunately for fans, the mods are not publically available.

After Nintendo confirmed the November 2.0 ACNH update would be its last significant content drop, there has been a boost in community creativity to keep it fun and fresh for players. Popular mods have made ACNH's Isabelle a playable avatar, while others have used mods and hacked Nintendo Switch consoles to push the boundaries of what's natively available in-game. There has been no news on when, or if, Animal Crossing players could expect any new or smaller updates, but doom-mori's mods have made players hopeful that Nintendo may consider adding Pokémon items in celebration of the upcoming Scarlet and Violet. This isn't an impossibility, as official Super Mario items were introduced back in February 2021, and previous games in the Animal Crossing franchise have also seen content from other games.

2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for Nintendo fans. With plenty of new Pokémon content being released, a new Kirby game, and the highly anticipated launch of Breath of the Wild 2, it is not a surprise that so many brilliant and unique creations are being made by artists in a plethora of formats. Currently, though, Nintendo fans are content to consistently show their endless creative genius and imagination through their brilliant builds in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
