Here's why Gemma Arterton preferred Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time over her other 2010 blockbuster Clash Of The Titans. It was an odd time for big-budget movies in 2010, especially following the enormous success of James Cameron's Avatar in 2009. There was a move at studios to focus on 3D blockbusters, which were being hailed as the future of cinema but were - in most cases - a thinly veiled excuse to charge higher ticket prices.

In 2010 everything from Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland to Saw: The Final Chapter came in 3D, though some movies were criticized for their murky post-conversion approach. This was famously the case with Clash Of The Titans, a remake of the b-movie cult favorite. Director Louis Leterrier had actually wanted to shoot in 3D but this was deemed too expensive, and he was later forced to do the post-conversion process. The movie's rushed, muddy and downright unpleasant 3D was roundly panned during release. While the movie was a hit, its poor 3D has become part of its legacy.

Gemma Arterton had a busy 2010, starring in both Clash Of The Titans as Io and video game adaptation Prince Of Persia: Sands Of Time as Tamina. The latter was fronted by Jake Gyllenhaal and it was hoped the movie would kick off a Pirates Of The Caribbean-style franchise, but while it was received decent reviews, its box-office take was modest. Arterton chose to focus on smaller projects in the wake of those two behemoths, with Clash Of The Titans being a prime motivator.

In a 2013 Indiewire interview, Arterton stated Clash Of The Titans didn't turn out the way she envisioned it and she was disappointed in the final product. She mirrored these thoughts years earlier during a 2010 CinemaBlend conversation, where she seemed very uninterested in returning for Wrath Of The Titans and took a shot at 3D being used as a tool to bring audiences to theaters.

In the same interview, she mentioned Clash Of The Titans making more money than Prince Of Persia, which she didn't understand as she felt the latter was the better film. While the movie received controversy during its release for featuring a whitewashed cast, its also considered one of the better big screen movies based on a video game. That said, that's not a high bar to jump either, but it's easy to see why Gemma Arterton considered Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time the more entertaining of the two.
