Who's in the Gemini Man main cast and where have you seen them before? Directed by Ang Lee, the science fiction film was co-written by Billy Ray, Darren Lemke, and former Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff.
In Gemini Man, a government hitman named Henry Brogan comes face to face with a younger clone of himself named Junior. He’s then forced to reassess his strategy, and figure out the truth behind Junior’s creation. Gemini Man’s pre-production dates back to the late ‘90s when Tony Scott was originally scheduled to direct. The script has been re-written several times since, and the film will finally release in 2019. After relatively disappointing with his previous film, Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, Lee is once again taking a progressive cinematic approach with Gemini Man through groundbreaking visual effects.
Now that Gemini Man has been freed from development hell, moviegoers will be curious to see how the main cast handles the material, and how Lee's 120 frames per second visuals pop on the big screen. Here’s the cast that Lee and company assembled for the highly-anticipated film.
Will Smith As Henry Brogan
Will Smith stars in dual roles, portraying both an elite government assassin and a younger version of himself, thanks to some clever visual effects in Gemini Man, which were supervised by Wonder Woman’s Bill Westenhofer.
Since the ‘80s, Smith has experienced many ups and down in the entertainment industry. He first emerged in pop culture as the MC for DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince, and later starred in the groundbreaking NBC series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. In the ‘90s, Smith evolved into one of cinema’s biggest blockbuster stars (Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black), but his resume since has been full of box office flops. However, Smith landed a hit with the 2019 feature Aladdin, and will star in the 2020 sequel Bad Boys for Life. For Gemini Man, Smith will have the opportunity to simultaneously re-establish himself as a true action star, a la Tom Cruise and Daniel Craig, while reminding fans about his glory days though the film's de-aging digital effects technology.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead As Danny Zakarweski
Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars in Gemini Man as Danny Zakarweski, Henry’s fellow assassin who remains loyal to him even after he's targeted for death.
During the 2000s, Winstead appeared in films like Final Destination 3, Death Proof, and Live Free or Die Hard. She became more visible in pop culture upon starring as Ramona Flowers in Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. In recent years, Winstead headlined Fargo season 3 and the 2018 indie hit All About Nina. Winstead will portray Helena Bertinelli aka Huntress in the 2020 DCEU film Birds of Prey. For Gemini Man, Winstead's endearing presence will contrast her character's deadly skill set.
Clive Owen As Clayton "Clay" Varris
English actor Clive Owen stars in Gemini Man as Clay, Henry's former boss and mentor whose relationship with his ex-student has soured.
For nearly 30 years, Owen has established himself as one of cinema’s most versatile performers. During the 21st century, he’s best known starring in films like Closer, Children of Men, and Sin City. On television, Owen starred in the Steven Soderbergh-directed series The Knick, and he’s also an accomplished stage performer, with his latest big role coming in the 2019 Tennessee Williams adaptation The Night of the Iguana at the Noël Coward Theatre in London’s West End. Interestingly, Owen also played The Driver in The Hire, a series of short films for BMW back in 2001 that were all directed by different big name directors, including Ang Lee.
Douglas Hodge As Jack Willis
Famed English performer Douglas Hodge portrays Gemini Man’s Jack Willis.
In recent years, Hodge portrayed Maxim Volontov in Red Sparrow, along with Rolo Haynes in the Black Mirror season 4 episode “Black Museum.” He also stars as Alfred Pennyworth in the 2019 film Joker, and portrays Dr. James Mitchell in the 2019 docudrama The Report starring Adam Driver. Furthermore, Hodge won a Tony for Best Actor for his portrayal of Albin in La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway.
Benedict Wong As Baron
English actor Benedict Wong portrays Baron, one of Harry’s colleagues, in Gemini Man.
In the MCU, Wong stars as Wong in the films Doctor Strange, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. He previously portrayed Kublai Khan in Netflix’s Marco Polo, and also had a role in the 2018 gem Annihilation. Wong voices Bull in the Disney Plus movie Lady and the Tramp, and also voices The General in Netflix’s The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. His presence alone in Gemini Man will likely boost the most dramatic moments.
Ralph Brown As Del Patterson
The English actor is perhaps best known for portraying Danny in the cult classic Withnail & I, and also for starring as Francis Aaron in David Fincher’s Alien 3. Brown played Del Preston in both Wayne’s World and Wayne’s World 2, and later starred as Ric Olié in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. He also portrayed Max Planck in the TV series Genius: Einstein, along with Dr. Fennhoff aka Ivchenko in ABC’s Agent Carter. Preston brings extraordinary versatility to the Gemini Man cast.
Theodora Miranne As Kitty
Actress Theodora Miranne portrays Kitty in Gemini Man.
She’s best known for portraying Kat Carlson in NBC’s The Blacklist: Redemption and Brooks in CBS’ Person of Interest. Kitty had a small role in the 2015 feature film The Night Before starring Seth Rogen. Gemini Man could ultimately become Miranne's major breakthrough role, allowing for opportunities in future mainstream films.
Linda Emond As Janet Lassiter
American actress Linda Emond rounds out the Gemini Man cast as Janet Lassiter.
Edmond is a three-time Tony Award nominee, and she’s appeared in numerous feature films over the past 20 years, including Spike Lee’s Oldboy, Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia, and Michael Showalter’s The Big Sick starring Kumail Nanjiani. Edmond also stars as Connie Clark in the AMC series Lodge 49. Her polish as a character actor will complement co-stars like Hodge and Brown.
