Gaspard Ulliel, the actor portraying Midnight Man in Moon Knight, has died at the age of 37. Ulliel, who was born in France, was best known for his roles in films like 2007's Hannibal Rising and 2014's  Saint Laurent. In 2004, Ulliel won a César Award for Most Promising Actor for his role opposite Audrey Tautou in A Very Long Engagement. Ulliel would go on to win the César Award for Best Actor in 2017 for his role in It's Only the End of the World.

Ulliel will also be appearing in the upcoming MCU series Moon Knight as Anton Mogart/ Midnight Man. The series, which stars Oscar Isaac as Moon Knight and Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ in March. A first trailer for the series was recently released but no new details have been shared regarding Ulliel's Midnight Man. While Hawke's Harrow seems to be the show's central villain, Midnight Man does act as a foil for Marc Specter on a number of occasions in the Moon Knight comics.

As reported by Deadline, Ulliel was hospitalized on Tuesday after suffering a serious head injury while skiing in the Savoie region of the French Alps. The 37-year-old actor was airlifted to a hospital in Grenoble but his family and agent have since confirmed that he has died as a result of his injuries. Ulliel is survived by his wife, Gaëlle Piétri, and his son, who was born in 2016.

According to the report, the region in which Ulliel was skiing when the accident occurred has been particularly dangerous as of late, with mountain police responding to numerous skiing accidents due to hard snow and ice. In the same Savoie region in which Ulliel sustained his injuries, a 5-year-old girl was killed on Saturday after a collision with another skier. Outside of his upcoming appearance in Moon Knight, Ulliel is slated to appear in a French film called More Than Ever, which is currently in post-production.

Isaac, Hawke, and Marvel executives have yet to make any official statements regarding Ulliel's death and it's not clear if the event will result in any changes to Moon Knight. Considering the show is set to premiere in March and is currently in post-production, Ulliel's scenes will have all been shot at this point. The acclaimed actor will no doubt be remembered for the numerous roles he's played over his career and, like many who have been lost too soon, Gaspard Ulliel's legacy will live on because of them and his family.
