Gas is a super popular app among teens, but is it available on Android? Marketed as a way to compliment friends, Gas promotes positive self-esteem by letting users create uplifting polls about their classmates or friends. Users selected in polls receive anonymous ‘Flames,’ only listing the grade and gender of the friend who voted for them. Since the questions tend to be compliments, and answers are supposed to be non-identifying, it encourages an anti-bullying environment.

Despite exploding in popularity and being available across the U.S., Gas is still not available on Android. According to Gas’ FAQ, there isn’t a release date for when it will be available on the platform. But, as Gas grows in popularity, an Android app can be expected. It's not uncommon for apps to start out being exclusive to one platform, before moving to another one later. Developing apps for different platforms takes time and money, and not all developers have the resources to release a multi-platform app. Given that Gas is targeted at high-schoolers though, it makes sense for an Android app to be released so that even more teens can have access.

Can Someone Without Gas App Be Listed On Polls?

Some individuals who cannot download Gas due to not having a compatible device may wonder if they can still appear on polls. The answer is – sometimes. As per the app's FAQs, new users who sign up but don’t have at least four friends yet on their account will be able to create polls by selecting their contacts instead. The app does not send users' contacts a text, but their name is added as a placeholder. Gas says that to have their contacts removed as choices in a poll, the user must add more friends. That means that anyone who isn’t on the app can potentially still be added to a poll, however, they will never be notified.

At the moment, Gas is only available in high schools in the U.S. and Canada. Users are encouraged to sign up only with the high school they currently attend, but if a mistake has been made, the app allows users to change their high school, grade, or name just once. This is to encourage authenticity and prevent fake accounts. Gas might also remove a user profile if they find that most of their friends do not go to the same school, so users will need to make sure they enter the correct details.

Is Gas App Anonymous?

Gas App Name Reveal

Since Gas app only lets users create polls and doesn't support messaging like Snapchat and Instagram, users might be worried about their identity being revealed on the platform, particularly when they vote on a poll about a crush. The good news is that Gas is anonymous, for the most part. Gas says that it only reveals the gender and grade of a person who voted for someone in a poll. However, there is a way to unlock a person's identity.

Gas has a paid feature called God Mode, which gives users access to features like unlimited hints, which reveals the first letter of the name of a person who voted for them in a poll. Users can also unlock two bonus reveals, which displays the name of a person who voted for them twice in a poll. The in-app purchases for God Mode range between $1.99 and $9.99, which Gas says is intentional to encourage anonymity.
