Will Gangs of London season 2 ever happen, and if so, will the main players return, and will the storyline move beyond the England setting? The TV show first released on Sky Atlantic in 2020, and then premiered on AMC in April 2021. Gangs of London, which was co-created by The Raid filmmaker Gareth Evans, has a cliffhanger ending that many will be curious about, especially in terms of what it means for new episodes.

Gangs of London season 1 focuses on underworld power dynamics after the murder of mob boss Finn Wallace (Colm Meaney). As family members mourn and strategize about the future, other crime organizations plot their next move and attempt to manipulate existing business deals. Meanwhile, police officer Elliot Finch (Sope Dirisu) infiltrates the Wallace family and keeps an eye on their partners Ed Dumani (Lucian Msamati) and (Paapa Essiedu), both of whom are more qualified to run the operation than Finn's unpredictable son, Sean (Joe Cole).

In the Gangs of London season 1 finale, Sean plots a crusade against corrupt investors who ordered Finn's murder. Unfortunately, he and his mother Marian (Michelle Fairley) are targeted by assassins who want to assume control of the family's business dealings. Plus, Elliot tries save his career (and life) after being exposed, but a group of mysterious business people ensure that he's still heavily involved in the London underworld. Here's everything to expect from Gangs of London season 2.

Gangs Of London Season 2 Renewal

Lucian Msamati as Ed Dumani and Paapa Essiedu as Alex Dumani in Gangs of London

Gangs of London season 2 will definitely happen. When AMC acquired the U.S. distribution rights in June 2020, the network also became co-producers and greenlit a second installment. Gangs of London season 2 will presumably consist of 10 one-hour episodes.

Gangs Of London Season 2 Release Date

Narges Rashidi as Lale in Gangs of London

Gangs of London season 2 will most likely release in 2022. The crime series isn't a typical mafia production, evidenced by the inherent ultraviolence and the directors' heavy-duty action scenes. Production is likely already moving along for Gangs of London season 2, but AMC will probably take their time after debuting the first installment in April 2021.

Gangs Of London Season 2 Cast

Sope Dirisu as Elliot Finch in Gangs of London

The Gangs of London season 2 main cast will most likely stay the same. Sean Wallace is seemingly killed at the end of season 1, however Evans has stated that he wanted audiences to be unsure about the character's fate. Dirisu will return as the undercover cop-turned-mobster Elliot, as he's now under the control of powerful investors. As for the Game of Thrones alum Fairley, she will also return as Marian Wallace, evidenced by a huge revelation in the final moments of season 1.

Gangs Of London Season 2 Story Details

Joe Cole as Sean Wallace in Gangs of London

Gangs of London season 2 could potentially focus on Wallace family secrets and Elliot's attempts to hide privileged information from his new bosses. The TV show's first season ends with Sean being killed by Elliot after proposing a business partnership, and Elliot then escaping from a group of interrogators after revealing his diplomatic immunity because of partnership with a mysterious woman known as Ms. Kane. The final moments show  that Mariana wasn't actually killed by Ed on a park bench, as she opens her eyes after being approached by her late husband's mistress, Floriana (Arta Dobroshi). Since Floriana may have access to a fortune that Finn stole from investors, she could presumably fund the Wallace family moving forward. Elliot also has access to Finn's SIM card, which contains information on several corrupt investors. Gangs of London season 2 will likely show Elliot working both sides once again, with the stakes being much larger.
