Game of Thrones cast members Sophie Turner and Richard Madden reunite, making fans get emotional about the offscreen Stark reunion. Game of Thrones is of course the critically-acclaimed HBO show that premiered in 2011, and is based on the work of George R.R. Martin. After eight seasons of the show, HBO is finally wrapping up the story for Game of Thrones, with the series only having two episodes left at this point.

Early on in Game of Thrones, the rivalry between House Stark and House Lannister was established, leading to the War of the Five Kings. Ned and Catelyn Stark originally had five children, Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon, but not all of them have survived the show's eight seasons. Sansa, Arya, and Bran have managed to survive so far, but Robb and Rickon died earlier on in the series. Rickon died during the Battle of the Bastards in season 6, while Robb died at the hands of Roose Bolton during the Red Wedding in season 3. Sansa and Robb never got to have a reunion onscreen, as she was still being held at King's Landing at the time of her brother's death, but the actors have now had a reunion offscreen.

Per The Huffington Post, Turner and Madden reunited while attending the recent Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. As big of an event as The Met Gala is, there are celebrities that attend each year, which means plenty of photographers. Photographers at the event were able to capture the reunion from both perspectives, showing the actors' happiness of seeing each other again. Fans of the show also seem thrilled with the reunion, as social media has been blowing up about the incident. A few fan reactions from seeing Turner and Madden together again can be seen below.

While Game of Thrones season 8 was no doubt one of HBO's most anticipated returning programs of the year, the newest season has been somewhat of a disappointment to many. People have criticized this season for bad romances, poor cinematography, and even for a coffee cup being visible in the most recent episode. Despite some criticism, Game of Thrones has set records this season by hitting 17.8 million viewers for the episode "The Long Night". In only four episodes, HBO has attempted to start tying up various storylines, which has included some long-awaited character reunions.

Over the past few seasons, fans have seen several characters get reunited, but for many, the most satisfying reunions are the ones revolving around the Stark children. Episode 1 of season 8 saw Jon Snow, a.k.a. Aegon Targaryen, reunite with Bran and Arya, but unfortunately, Sansa, Bran, and Arya will never be able to reunite with their oldest sibling since he was killed at the Red Wedding. Even though their reunion won't ever happen onscreen, it makes sense why fans would go crazy over seeing the Game of Thrones actors give each other a big hug in real life.
