Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has a theory on how the acclaimed HBO series will end, but admits it’s probably too peaceful to actually come to pass. At this point everyone has a theory about what will happen in the final season of Game of Thrones, but except for a select few, no one knows how the last episodes will indeed play out. Fans still have a long wait ahead of them as the show is not expected to premiere until well into 2019.

As filming on season 8 wrapped up, several of the show’s stars have already revealed that they’ve completed their work and said their emotional goodbyes to cast and crew. Emilia Clarke revealed that she filmed her final scenes as Daenerys and teased that her character’s resolution may upset some fans. Arya Stark actress Maisie Williams also fueled speculation about her character’s fate in an Instagram post where she said goodbye with a series of hashtags that seemed to suggest Arya is one of the few left standing when the series ends. Some stars, like Jaime Lannister actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, are just glad to have made it to season 8.

Loras Tyrell actor Finn Jones doesn’t have any potential spoilers to offer about Game of Thrones season 8, since his character died in the Cersei-orchestrated explosion of the Great Sept of Baelor in season 6, but he does have his theory about how the whole thing will end. Speaking to People live on Twitter, Jones gave his very reasonable-sounding take on the possible fate of the Seven Kingdoms. But then he admitted that his theory might be a bit too peaceful for the infamously violent series:

"I basically don’t think there will be a throne anymore, and I don’t think there will be a centralized seat of power. I think power will be given back to the individual kingdoms, so more like a democratic rule. But I think that is probably a bit too utopian for Game of Thrones. I think eventually what will happen is just everyone will die."

Jones’ take on the Game of Thrones finale offers up a potentially peaceful and democratic resolution to all the war and carnage that has been playing out across multiple seasons. However, as he himself points out, it’s unlikely that Thrones will finish up with such a happy and utopian ending. And even if that ending does come to pass, a lot of death and destruction would have to take place first. Clearly, the Night King isn’t the type to enter into negotiations about a peaceful settlement. And it’s also unrealistic to expect Cersei to call a truce and consider giving up power so the kingdoms can all come together and live in peace and harmony.

At this point, it’s anyone’s guess how Game of Thrones will finally play out. But whatever happens, the last six episodes are sure to be packed with an epic amount of action. And whoever does end up wielding power at the end of the series is going to have a lot of cleaning up to do.
