New images of Sansa Stark and Littlefinger from Game of Thrones have been revealed. With season seven of the hit HBO fantasy/drama less than two weeks away, fans have been eager to get a glimpse at what's in store for our favorite characters like Jon Snow, Daenerys Targaryen and Cersei Lannister during the shorter-than-usual seven episode season premiering July 16.
Two characters that have caught the attention of viewers are Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), current Lady of Winterfell, and Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen), the Lord Protector of the Vale. The pair first caught the attention of viewers during season four when King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) was poisoned at his own wedding and Sansa made her great escape from King's Landing thanks to the help of Littlefinger - who sailed her home to his new bride, her aunt in the Vale. Since then, Sansa has gone through a dramatic transformation from a naïve girl to an actual player in the game of thrones, from watching Littlefinger play out his schemes to surviving her horrible marriage to the late Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).
Now on HBO's Making Game of Thrones site, fans can get a glimpse of a new season 7 photo featuring Sansa and Littlefinger in Winterfell - as well as a new look at Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), gazing upon her new throne at Dragonstone. Here are the new images:
While most of the Thrones season 7 images we have seen so far reveal nothing too telling about the storylines, in this Sansa and Littlefinger image, we see that Littlefinger is looking keenly at something - while Sansa eyes him with a somewhat concerned look on her face. Interestingly, it was revealed back in November by Turner herself that Sansa is going to go on a bit of a power trip this season after exacting her revenge on Ramsay, but her new power is going to lead to insecurity that could make things dangerous for herself, her newly anointed King of the North half-brother Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and even Littlefinger, if she lets her newfound power and insecurities get the best of her.
As for Littlefinger, things aren't looking too good for him based on the Game of Thrones season 7 trailers - which show Jon slamming him into a wall in, what looks like, the Stark crypts underneath Winterfell. Jon could be angry at Littlefinger for a mutiple of reasons - the biggest one being his growing romantic feelings for Sansa, which are wrong for a number of reasons (considering he's around her mother's age). Even though Sansa is more of a player now, it's always about the game of thrones and power for Littlefinger, no matter who gets caught in the crossfire.
Game of Thrones season 7 premieres on HBO on July 16th.
