A new featurette from HBO shows off the detailed costumes that will be on display during season 7 of Game of Thrones. For fans of Game of Thrones, it's been an atypically long wait for the new season - but everything we've seen so far points towards the delay being well worth it. After months of promos and interviews teased new developments in the series, we finally saw our first Game of Thrones season 7 trailer two weeks again. Though brief, it teased the culmination of many of the events we've seen on the series so far and pointed towards the end goal.

Now that the trailer has arrived, the promotion can finally begin in earnest for the upcoming seventh season of the hit series. After getting glimpses of the various returning characters, the most recent Game of Thrones photos have offered a rare glimpse at the Stark children not only together, but enjoying themselves. While it could point towards a similar development on the show, it's more likely the only time we'll see the grim gang enjoying such merriment. Beyond offering a fun look at the cast, these images provided us with our best look yet at some of the new costumes the protagonists will be wearing in season 7. Now, a number of other characters have been given the same treatment.

The above featurette (released online by HBO) features interviews with designer Michele Clapton and dives into her impressive and detailed costume work for Game of Thrones' latest season. Though the video includes footage from previous seasons of the show, it primarily highlights the characters' updated outfits that will be appearing in season 7. The video offers little-to-nothing in terms of fresh plot details, but we do get some new shots of Arya, Sansa, Jaime, Cersei, Robert Strong, Dany, and many more of the returning characters on the show.

While the costumes for Game of Thrones season 7 have be glimpsed in previous trailers and photos, it's exciting to get to see the finer details of those outfits here. It's also interesting to hear Clapton discuss her evolution, from hanging out with the Blitz Kids during the reign of the New Romantics, to crafting the iconic costumes on Game of Thrones. She also talks about how she envisions the costumes, noting that a character's location and position open up new possibilities for the style of clothing they wear, every season.

There's an interesting shot towards the end of this video, showing a set of pants woven with straw. While it could be something worn by the Dothraki or Free Folk, it looks suspiciously like the garment Wun Wun wore before his demise last season (see also the Game of Thrones Wun Wun Funko toy for comparison). While this could be old footage of costumes from season 6, it may instead hint at more giants to come. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that dead giants will return as wights under the thrall of the Others, so perhaps our heroes will have to face these fearsome foes again in season 7.

This featurette will likely be followed by more looks behind the scenes as we move towards the premiere of season 7. Of course, fans will have to savor the moment, as it's looking more and more like Game of Thrones' final season might not arrive until 2019. In the meantime, stay tuned for all things Thrones-related, as we await the penultimate season.
