New Game of Thrones season 7 costumes debut in two HBO promo videos. The Game of Thrones season 7 premiere is just over three months away, and HBO is keeping the series' secrets well under wraps. After season 6 ended with most of the characters heading back to Westeros for a final showdown - including both Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) - season 7 promises to bring the contenders for the throne together as they prepare for a final war. Of course, there's more going on than just politics. As the Night's Watch and Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) know, the Night's King is coming, and both White Walkers and dragons will be invading soon.
Anything beyond those basics, however, has yet to be revealed. HBO's promos for the show, including the first 'Long Walk' video and the premiere date promotional stunt, have given away only glimpses of the main characters (and the dragons). Now, while the show still hasn't released any more footage from season 7, they have released a new promo for the channel featuring several of the main characters in their new season costumes.
HBO has released two new videos on their YouTube channel, which bring together various actors from HBO series, all making short "ahhh" sounds for the camera. The videos are titled "It's What Connects Us," and are both 46 seconds long. Each video ends by blending together the "ah" sounds that the actors make into the signature HBO intro noise to promote the channel.
Several of the Game Of Thrones characters make an appearance in the videos, in their season 7 costumes. We see Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) with his golden hand, Daenerys in her new cold-weather costume and using her dragons to make the noise for her, Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), Bran Stark, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), Arya Stark, and The Hound (Rory McCann). Hodor (Kristian Nairn) even makes an appearance.
Many of these characters are wearing costumes that we have already seen, including Cersei, Jon and Daenerys, who were all wearing these outfits in the most recent promo. Others, like Sansa, Bran and Tormund look essentially the same as their costumes at the end of the season 6. Hodor, meanwhile, will not be appearing in season 7 - after his heartbreaking death - and was presumably just included as a nod to fans.
The most interesting outfits that we can see in these short clips belong to Tyrion, who is back in Westerosi gear for the cold weather that matches Daenerys's costume, and Arya's. Arya's new costume includes Needle, her trusty blade, and a knitted/fur trim which suggests that she reunites with Jon and Sansa in the North this season, as the cloak matches theirs. Game of Thrones is sure to release more as the premiere date nears, but these little teases are whetting fan appetite until then.
Game of Thrones season 7 premieres July 16 @9pm on HBO.
