New promotional footage for the final season of Game of Thrones has surfaced, and it's as heavy on the action as it is on dragons. Though HBO has been careful not to reveal much from the new season, season 8 will no doubt be a visual feast of epic proportions.

Ever since its premiere in 2011, Game of Thrones has become one of the most beloved modern series. Based on George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series, Game of Thrones has captivated audiences with everything from sword fights and magic to backstabbing and dragons; and now that it's winding down to its eighth and final season, the gloves are off. The bloody trials and tribulations that characters like Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) have endured will come to an end one way or another. Now, with anticipation growing, some promotional footage has been revealed, showing off the battles to come.

Twitter user @radcliffe posted a look at new footage from Game of Thrones' eighth season, and it's evident that dragons will take part in quite a bit of action this year. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) explains that people "must fight together or die," while footage follows highlighting the tense anticipation of war - not only for the North versus the South, but humans against the White Walkers. Most notable, however, is the presence of dragons. Daenerys' two remaining dragons are seen flying through mountains and over Winterfell, and one one of breathes fire onto one unlucky victim. Check out the footage below:

HBO has hardly been overwhelming fans with footage from season 8. In fact, most of the footage in this new promo was used in the official trailer. Of the new footage, there is the aforementioned line with Tyrion, a quick look at Sandor Clegane/The Hound (Rory McCann), Daenerys and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) seated together, and Daenerys with her back to Jon as she stares into a lit fireplace.

For casual viewers (are there casual Game of Thrones viewers?), this new footage may not seem like much; but for the diehard fans - of which there are many - there is plenty to dissect for the sake of season 8 speculation and theorizing. And, at this point, with so little to go off, aside from what the previous seasons have set up until now, speculating is half the fun.
