Game of Thrones actress Lena Headey has spoken, and she'd like the chance to play Deadpool. Headey was last seen on the big screen in last year's Fighting with My Family and heard on Netflix's The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistancebut fans know her best as the scheming Cersei Lannister on HBO's hit fantasy show. For the role, which she played for all eight seasons, Headey was nominated for 5 Emmys and earned much critical praise. Game of Thrones came to an end last year with a highly polarizing final season, and even a year later, fans are still frustrated with its swan song. Cersei's fate in particular was one of the elements that fans were most displeased with.

Headey herself has said she was disappointed with Cersei's end, which saw her crushed under some falling rubble with her brother/lover Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). It didn't help that much of the final season kept Cersei sidelined from most of the action and gave Headey very few big scenes. Of course, Headey's time as the former queen of Westeros is over, and it's time to look ahead to her future projects. She will next lend her voice to another Netflix animated series, Masters of the Universe: Revelationin the role of Evil-Lyn.

However, if Headey had her way, she'd get to take on the role of one particular superhero. While talking to Geek House Show (via Heroic Hollywood), Headey revealed she would "love to play Deadpool. Obvs. Anyway, that’s been taken." Of course, she's referring to Ryan Reynolds, who has been playing the character since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Deadpool

While Deadpool's appearance in X-Men Origins was poorly received to say the least, Reynolds got his shot at redemption with the 2016 solo film Deadpool. That movie portrayed the character as he was meant to be portrayed, with profane humor and lots of fourth wall-breaking. A sequel followed in 2018 that was as much of a success as the first film. Now that Disney owns Fox (and thus, all of Fox's Marvel characters), it's unclear exactly what Deadpool's future will be. However, Reynolds did confirm last year Deadpool 3 is in development at Marvel Studios, and hopefully it will retain the same vibe as the previous installments.

While it's highly unlikely Reynolds will vacate the role of Deadpool any time soon, it's hard to deny that seeing Headey as the Merc with a Mouth would be really awesome. She's a talented actress, and there's no doubt she could play Deadpool well. If anything, it would be hilarious to see the woman who once played cold and reserved Cersei Lannister take on a role like Deadpool. It may never happen, but it's fun to imagine.
