Kinvara, a Red Priestess, only made one appearance in Game of Thrones, but the character made a lasting impression. The follower of the Lord of Light, played by Ania Bukstein, was a supporter of Daenerys Targaryen, believing the Mother of Dragons to be the "Chosen One." After Kinvara's introduction in Game of Thrones season 6, viewers expected her to make a return down the line, but that wasn't the case.

Kinvara wasn't just a Red Priestess, she was also the High Priestess of the Red Temple of Volantis. She met Tyrion Lannister and Varys in the Great Pyramid of Meereen in her first episode, "The Door". It was Tyrion who wanted the priestess' help in persuading the people that Daenerys was a protector, not a conqueror. Kinvara then proclaimed her support for Daenerys since she felt the young Targaryen was the "Prince That Was Promised." After all, the Azor Ahai prophecy never stated a gender, so it was entirely possible for Daenerys to be the "Chosen One."

Varys argued that Melisandre, another Red Priestess, declared Stannis Baratheon to be Azor Ahai reborn, but Kinvara interjected that even followers of R'hllor could make mistakes. Kinvara then tried to prove the will of her lord before stating that she would call on her best preachers to spread the word about Daenerys throughout Essos. The character was never seen in the series again so her fate was left a mystery while many of Game of Thrones' prophecies were left abandoned in the plot. Her connection to Volantis and Daenerys, however, became the focus of an interesting fan theory following the conclusion of the HBO series.

A Season 8 Fan Theory Linked Daenerys & Kinvara

Drogon and Daenerys' Body with Kinvara in Game of Thrones

After Jon Snow killed his Queen in the Game of Thrones series finale, Daenerys' only surviving dragon, Drogon, took her body. It was later insinuated that Drogon took Daenerys to Volantis, which fueled a theory that the dragon was bringing her to Kinvara. With the Red Priestess' connection to Daenerys, it's very possible that she was brought there to be resurrected. The series made it clear that Red Priests and Priestesses have the power of resurrection, as was the case with Thoros and Melisandre. Seeing as Kinvara was a High Priestess, there would be no doubt that she could have brought Daenerys back to life.

George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series doesn't provide any clues regarding Kinvara's fate because the character was created solely for HBO's Game of Thrones. She replaced Benorro, the High Priest of Volantis, and the Red Priest Moqorro, who traveled to Mereen to meet with Daenerys. Both figures highly support the Dragon Queen and offer their assistance to her and her associates. As of now, Daenerys being resurrected by Kinvara isn't canon but it's still a fun theory to ponder as viewers await the release of the forthcoming Targaryen prequel series, House of the Dragon.
