Game of Thrones fan art imagines what Daenerys and Jon Snow's daughter might look like. Season 8 of Game of Thrones wrapped up the epic fantasy show’s story for better or for worse, but definitely did not answer all the burning questions fans had about their favorite characters.
Indeed, season 8 rushed to its fiery and violent conclusion so quickly that there simply wasn’t time to answer every lingering mystery set up in the prior 7 seasons. As an example of one such unresolved question, many fans wondered if Daenerys might not be carrying Jon Snow’s child throughout the final season, after their hook-up in season 7. But following on loads of speculation by fans in between seasons, the question of whether Daenerys was actually pregnant by her nephew Jon Snow was left up in the air as he of course ran a sword through her in the season 8 finale as a way of bringing an end to her dragon-enabled reign of terror.
Fans may never get an answer about whether Jon Snow actually killed his own child at the same time he dispatched Daenerys, but they can still speculate on what that child might have looked like had things gone in a different direction. To aid in this endeavor, Reddit user malevolentplatypus used the popular program FaceApp to combine the features of actors Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington and create their daughter Lyanna Targaryen - who looks a little like Justin Bieber. Indeed, the speculative child arrived at by FaceApp is as attractive as one would expect from the combination of Daenerys and Jon Snow (and she is given a name that honors Snow’s mother Lyanna Stark). But there is also a somewhat sinister glare in Lyanna’s eyes, as is appropriate for someone from the blood-line that produced not only the Mad King Aerys II but also the eventual Mad Queen Daenerys.
But of course, blood-lines are not everything on Game of Thrones, as Jon Snow himself proved by rising above his own Targaryen origins to become a decent person who did not in fact go mad, but instead kept his wits and did the right thing in the end. Of course, Snow also had Stark blood in his veins, which no doubt helped temper the insane tendencies inherited from the Targaryens. And it also didn’t hurt to be raised by the virtuous Ned Stark, an advantage Daenerys obviously did not have. Indeed, Daenerys’ backstory was traumatic enough that her finally snapping possibly had less to do with blood and more with PTSD.
As for the question of how the story might have played out had Daenerys given birth and that child lived (and the show continued beyond season 8), no doubt the story would have gone into the conflict between the dueling natures roughly represented by Lyanna's parents and now embodied in her. Would Jon Snow have been able to teach his daughter the honorable ways of the Starks, or would she have been doomed to follow Daenerys’ path to madness and destruction? Undoubtedly, dragon riding would have been a big part of her education, unless Jon stepped in and decided it would be better for her to not wield such power. Unfortunately, fans of Game of Thrones won’t get to see this scenario play out, but they can still make up their own fan fic to their hearts' content.
