House Lannister was, once upon a time, a tremendously powerful family in the universe of Game of Thrones. With their enormous wealth and the canny leadership of the indomitable Tywin, it’s not hard to see how they eventually came to be the dominant noble clan. Obviously, by the time of the end of the show they’re a bit reduced, with basically only Tyrion left standing.

As with so many other aspects of the series, it’s fun to think about how one would pair up with the various members of this family, particularly depending on where one falls along the zodiac.

Aries: Tywin

Tywin Lannister

Tywin is one of those people who knows what he wants and is not going to let anyone stand in his way (even if it does make him very hated). He’s fiercely loyal to his family, and he scrupulously looks after their interests. In fact, it’s largely thanks to him that the Lannisters manage to become as powerful as they do. With his powerful, forceful personality, he would make a very good match for the Aries, who sometimes likes a bit of a challenge in a relationship.

Taurus: Cersei

One of the key traits of the Taurus is stubbornness. Sometimes, it’s almost impossible to get them to do something unless they think it’s their own idea. That’s basically a perfect summation of Cersei’s character, isn’t it? She’s not stupid, by any means, but she can sometimes be very pig-headed about literally anything going on in the capital, which leads to some pretty significant mistakes. For this reason, she’d make a great match for any Taurus, and their battle of wills would truly be something to behold.

Gemini: Joffrey

Joffrey in Game of Thrones

If one has ever known a Gemini, it’s easy to understand why people get frustrated with them. They can be a bit unstable at times, and they often seem to have two different personalities that they show the world. Anyone who has seen even an episode of this show knows that this description also perfectly matches Joffrey, who can at times be quite charming and at others utterly ruthless and cruel. It would be interesting to see how a Gemini and Joffrey would manage one another’s instabilities.

Cancer: Lancel

Poor Lancel. He seems to get a bit of a bad rap in the series, first being the tool that Cersei manipulates into killing Robert, then being spurned by her, then becoming one of the doomed members of the Faith Militant. However, it has to be said that he can also be very self-indulgent. This makes him an ideal for the Cancer, who likewise has a tendency to look resolutely inward. Hopefully, each would encourage the other to look outside of their own limited interests.

Leo: Jaime

There are some good reasons why Jaime is one of the most complex characters in both the books and the novels. After all, he has a powerful dynamism about him that is hard to resist, a forceful personality and charm that seems to cast a spell. If that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s also true of the Leo, arguably one of the most potent signs in the entire zodiac.

While a Leo and Jaime might have some conflict because each would want to be the center of attention, in many ways they would also complement one another.

Virgo: Tyrion

No matter the circumstances, one can always count on Tyrion to be the voice of reason, reminding others of the consequences of their actions. In fact, sometimes it seems like he’s the only character who really seems to know what’s going on (at least in the early seasons). In that respect, he’s very much like a Virgo, a sign that always has to be right. Tyrion, however, has a softer side of him that might help to smooth away some of Virgo’s rougher edges.

Libra: Joanna

Though she’s only really referred to in the series, it’s pretty clear that Joanna Lannister had a fairly profound impact on both her husband Tywin and on her twin children, and she seemed to provide the balance that Tywin needed in his life. In that respect, she’s very much like a Libra, a sign that also seems to bring a fair bit of stability to those that they get into relationships with. From @Enjoytheblood at Deviantart.

Scorpio: Jaime

Much as he is a Leo, there’s also quite a lot about Jaime that makes him seem like a Scorpio. For example, there’s a bit of an edge to him, a sense that just beneath that charming exterior there’s also a layer of cruelty.

It really would be fun to see how a true Scorpio, with all of their strange personality traits, would deal with someone like Jaime, with his indomitable personality and incredible charisma.

Sagittarius: Joffrey

Joffrey Baratheon in Game of Thrones

If there’s one thing true about a Sagittarius, it’s that it’s a bit of a strange sign. They’re both adventurous and also more than a bit reckless, and they often get themselves into trouble as a result. There’s no question that Joffrey is definitely reckless (and gets more so as the show goes on), as he shows time and again with the way that he treats others, most notoriously when he capriciously decides to execute Ned Stark. He’d be a fascinating mix for a similarly adventurous Sagittarius.

Capricorn: Kevan

If there’s one person that Tywin can rely on to be his right-hand man, it’s his brother Kevan. Time and again, Kevan shows that he’s a very sensible sort, and definitely not the kind of man who would indulge in any sort of showboating. He’d thus make a perfectly good match for a Capricorn, one of those zodiac signs that also likes to keep the drama to a minimum and wants to focus on reason, logic, and stability.

Aquarius: Tommen

In some important ways, Tommen is an enigma. While the viewer certainly sees a lot of him, it’s hard to know what’s going on behind those eyes. However, what is fairly certain is that there is a kindness and sweetness to him that’s missing in many of the other members of his family. For this reason, he would make a great match for the Aquarius, who has some of those traits as well.

Pisces: Myrcella

Myrcella in Game of Thrones

Myrcella is probably the most sweet-natured of the Lannister family (it’s what makes her ultimate fate, poisoned by Elaria Sand, all the more tragic). She also seems to be one of the few members of the family who’s willing to actually give in to her feelings now and then. For this reason, she’d make a great match for the Pisces, a sign that is well-known for their ability to be in touch with their feelings (sometimes to excess).
