A new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Game of Thrones pairs Emilia Clarke with Kit Harington in support of her new Omaze charity contest. Though the TV show has veered away from the books in a number of big ways, fans of A Song of Ice and Fire can at least take solace in the fact that Game of Thrones isn't going anywhere. Aside from the final season of the show airing next year and providing some resolution for key plots (many of which will likely mirror future book events), five different spinoff ideas are in the works.
We know only one of the spinoff ideas will make it to air at a time, but it still means fans of the world George R.R. Martin created will have some new content to consume. On the book side of things, they'll have a Targaryen-centric collection of stories to look forward to, but the conclusion of the main series is still a long way off. The Winds of Winter won't arrive this year, according to Martin, and there's still one final installment after that. So for now, all eyes are on the return of the TV show.
Emilia Clarke has launched a new Omaze campaign in support of the Royal College of Nursing. The winner will receive a number of prizes, including a behind-the-scenes tour of Game of Thrones season 8. Clarke released a video to promote the event recently, and now EW has a new image of her in costume as Daeneyrs alongside Kit Harington as Jon Snow.
While the winner will see a lot of interesting things on the set of the show, they'll miss Game of Thrones' biggest battle scene. That finished filming last month, and promises to put the Battle of the Bastards to shame. The content of the fight isn't clear yet, but with Jon amassing forces against the Night King's army (and ice dragon), it's not hard to imagine what's going to go down.
In fact, some fans may not be surprised at all when it comes to the new season. We've heard tons of Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers so far, as HBO seems perpetually unable to stop leaks regarding the biggest TV show in the world. Clarke even jokes about the tight security in the new video, though the winner of the Omaze campaign will naturally only see things that have been approved of. What's more, they may even be asked to sign an NDA to keep quiet about anything they see. Luckily, it won't be much longer until the final season of Game of Thrones premieres and we learn how everything ends.
