The prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, will be released this upcoming August. Where the first series had The Starks at the heart of the tale, this time around, audiences will see the backstory of one of the legendary houses of this world - The Targaryens.

Since fans were not happy with the way the original series ended, many are hoping the prequel to this epic series will allow for a more satisfying ending. However, it wasn't just the series ending that fans were disappointed with. Some Reddit fans were upset about the way certain characters met their end, and many of them had ideas about what would have been a more appropriate ending.

Ros

Joffrey abuses Ros in Game of Thrones

Though not a central character, Ros's role in the series was interesting and added depth to the world. The sex workers in King's Landing, and all over the continent, were a consistent part of the show, yet very few of them received much of a plot or even a name (much to the viewers' annoyance). Ros was one of the few exceptions, where she proved to be an emotionally driven, intelligent character that intrigued the audience.

Reddit user mamblerbambler mentioned that, "she was smart and kind and she got screwed over by both Varys and Littlefinger." Ros may have not trusted the right people, but her interesting storyline ended suddenly with Joffrey's cruel and useless torture.

Meera Reed

Meera-Reed-in-Game-of-Thrones

Meera Reed journeyed with her brother, Jojen, and Hodor to bring Bran Stark to the Three-Eyed Raven. By the time Bran evaded the Army of the Dead and became the Three-Eyed Raven, she was the last survivor left to defend him as he journeyed back to Winterfell.

However, when they reached his home, Bran didn't need her anymore and was unresponsive when she said she would return to her family. Reddit user acamas said, "She sacrificed her brother and, in a sense, Bran, for the [Three-Eyed] Raven," and then went on to point out that Bran "dropped her the moment he was safe in Winterfell." Fans think Meera deserved more than just disappearing from the show for all of her sacrifices. Maybe they will mention her in the upcoming Jon Snow spinoff and provide fans with a bit of an update.

Dickon Tarly

Dickon Tarly looking tired in Game of Thrones

While Lord Tarly was a cruel man to his son Sam, his younger son, Dickon, seemed like a kind and adventurous young man that wanted to do the right thing. The audience doesn't get to see much of this young man before Daenerys executes him and his father, but some wish he was given a second chance.

Reddit user RTB116 said, "He WAS just a foolish young man trying to stay [honorably] by his father..." Many fans felt sorry that Sam was an outcast in his family, but they proved themselves to be honorable men. Had Daenerys listened to Tyrion and given them some time to contemplate their allegiance, Dickon's storyline may have been a bit more interesting.

Myrcella Baratheon

Myrcella Baratheon dying in Jaime Lannister's arms in Game of Thrones.

Myrcella was Jaime and Cersei's only daughter, but she didn't have much of a plot. Most of her young life was spent in the background of her family and the rest of it was spent in a foreign country away from her home. When she died, it was clearly only a way to create another villain standing against the Lannisters.

Reddit user EssenceOfEspresso said, "She got Jamie to take the Dorne trip but that was one of the worst executed plots in the show. She should’ve either gotten a real storyline or never have been introduced." By her death, it was clear Myrcella was there simply to give Cersei another reason to get revenge. As the princess, fans think she could have added more to the story than a few scenes and quick death.

Osha

Wildling Osha in Game of Thrones

Though Osha and a couple of other Wildlings tried to harm Bran earlier in the series, she made up for it in the end. When she lived at Winterfell, despite being a prisoner, she quickly took a liking to the Stark children and was determined to protect them when Theon Greyjoy threatened their safety.

It was disappointing to see Ramsay end her life so easily, making Osha's death one of the saddest side character deaths. Reddit user RubyRedRainbow agreed that Osha deserved better, saying, "Ramsay deserved what Sansa, Jon and those dogs gave him." She was such a fierce protector to Bran and Rickon Stark that it was unjust to see her die so easily.

Drogo

Khal Drogo scowling in Game of Thrones

Daenerys Targaryen would have had a very different storyline had her husband lived longer. While her fight for the throne was quite an interesting plotline, some fans believe Drogo would have been an intriguing character to keep around a little bit longer.

One reason fans thought his death wasn't deserved was because he simply died due to an infection. RubyRedRainbow agreed, saying that he "Definitely died too soon. And he should have died fighting, not from a small wound that got infected." Many Redditors think Drogo would have provided some interesting scenarios if he hadn't died so early on.

Petyr Baelish

Petyr Baelish in Game of Thrones.

Petyr Baelish's wit led to some of the best twists in the series. However, his betrayals of Ned and Catelyn and pinning the Stark daughters against each other made many fans wish for his death. While his death was inevitable after Sansa and Arya learned of his betrayals, some fans thought it was too sudden.

Reddit user vegan_zombie_brainz mentioned how, "he masterminded nearly everything that happened but yet...bled out on a floor," and then went on to add that he, "should've been stabbed by everyone." After everything he'd done, some fans thought his death wasn't gruesome enough.

Shireen Baratheon

Shireen Baratheon about to climb a horse in Game of Thrones.

Shireen Baratheon was one of the best side characters, despite having a hard life at such a young age. Her father was not only obsessed with taking the Seven Kingdoms but was disappointed he never had a son. Because his daughter was seen as more expendable, it was easier for him to sacrifice her to the Lord of Light.

Though she wasn't a major player in the show, Shireen was an innocent child that only wanted to be happy and earn her parents' love. One Reddit user said, "Shireen Baratheon deserved much better. Still one of the worst deaths in my eyes."

Cersei Lannister

Lena Headey as Cersei in Game of Thrones

Cersei Lannister was a villain right from the beginning and not many fans wanted to see her win the Seven Kingdoms and the Iron Throne. However, there's no denying that she was also an intriguing character with a depth of emotion. It was her children's safety that drove her from the beginning and then it was her determination to survive that enabled her to fight for control.

Reddit user xar-brin-0709 said, "All the years that went into showing Cersei's many faces, only to have her die as a side-character under falling bricks..." She may have not deserved a happy ending, but fans felt her death was quite disappointing.

Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister

Jaime Lannister had one of the most impressive character arcs in the series. Most of his time was spent defending his family and his sister, but he knew he had to fight to protect the world when the dead came for them. However, it was disappointing to see him run back to Cersei after the Night King was destroyed.

Reddit user tomandshell said, "I hated to see all of his character development tossed aside as he just ran back to his sister to have the ceiling collapse on his head." While it wasn't necessarily shocking to see Jaime run back to his lover expecting to die, it did feel like a waste of character development.
