As one of the greatest television shows of all time, as well as one of the most important and influential, Game Of Thrones has dominated the conversation in the pop culture zeitgeist over the past decade; even beyond its awful ending, the show is remembered for its brilliance and beloved by millions.

So much excellent stuff went into the majority of the show, from the writing to the effects to the acting, but one big department that shone and helped create a lot of iconography for the show is the costumes/hair and makeup departments. There is an insane amount of incredible outfits on the show, making fans spoiled for choice in terms of Halloween costume ideas.

White Walker/Night King

The Night King and his army of the dead are sprinkled throughout Game Of Thrones, making up much of the show's fantasy elements, becoming an iconic character even with what many fans feel was a disappointing ending.

Either the Night King or simply one of his white walkers would make for an incredible Halloween costume, but the unfortunate thing is the entire get-up would be very hard to pull off brilliantly, requiring some expert makeup to go alongside the armor.

Queen In The North

Sansa Stark as the Queen in the North in GOT

Sansa Stark is a character who has quite the journey throughout Game Of Thrones, with most people pretty much hating her in the early seasons, and not even necessarily liking her by the end, but definitely respecting her at least.

She has a few great outfits, but that final shot of her taking the Northern Throne, with the snowy gown and the elegant crown, is one that would make for a warm and excellent Halloween outfit for anybody.

Hodor

Bran strapped to Hodor's back

No Game Of Thrones fan could have predicted the emotional impact Hodor would eventually have on them and the show, and he is another fondly remembered part of the journey.

His outfit works great for a Halloween costume if it gets kitted out with Bran's carrying gear, perhaps a good place for a small child to fit, or a pet, or even a door for a clever reference point, coupled with the ragged clothes Hodor typically donned.

Queen Cersei Lannister

Cersei, Queen of Westeros in Game of Thrones

While the Night King seemed to get set up as the big bad of the series, the consistently worst person in Game Of Thrones and arguably the true villain was Cersei Lannister, one of the show's best and easiest to hate characters.

She has a plethora of great outfits across her eight seasons, but her Queen coronation outfit, with the short hair, graceful crown, and black and gold gown with golden shoulder guards and chain, would be hard to beat on Halloween.

King Joffrey Baratheon

Joffrey in Game of Thrones

While Cersei was the villain with the most longevity of the series, Joffrey Baratheon holds the status as the most despised character in the show, even over the likes of his mother, Ramsay, and mad Daenerys.

His outfits are usually similar with the cloak and crown, with his gold one, the very same one in which he so satisfyingly and brilliantly died in, being his most memorable, and the one that any young blonde could make work on October 31st.

Melisandre

Melisandre does not draw the level of consistent hatred from fans that Joffrey and Cersei did, but she was disliked for a long time before Shireen's death just pushed her over the edge into being truly awful. But, she is performed excellently and has some great outfits.

Always clad in red of some sort, Melisandre's classic outfit with the layers of red is the best option for any fan of the Lord of Light devotee.

Jaime Lannister

To many people, Jaime Lannister is the best of the best that Game Of Thrones has to offer, especially given Tyrion's fall to the wayside after season four, even despite the end to his arc, which left many people in a state of vexation.

Jaime has many aesthetic changes, from his Prince Charming look in season one, to his burgundy outfitted, gold handed time in Dorne, to his gold armored time fighting for the Lannisters. While these are all good options, his lowest point in the early seasons, when audiences become enamored by the character, is the best option, with the ragged clothes, undone hair, and severed hand kept around the neck.

No One

Blind Arya Stark on Game of Thrones

Another fan favorite is Arya Stark, one of the only characters whose ending, in terms of where the character ends up going, fans were okay with (as long as everything before that is ignored). Her journey has highs and lows, and the lows may make for the best Halloween costume.

While Arya's older fighting outfit with Needle in hand would definitely be great, the unique option is going for no one, when Arya is blind, in rags, on the street, with a stick. It would be niche but greatly appreciated by big fans of the series.

The King In The North

Jon Snow was the closest thing Game Of Thrones ever got to a main character and central protagonist, with his journey being so consistently at the forefront. His story was getting set up to be the most crucial for the final season and for the story of Westeros.

Jon has a few brooding outfits, from his starting outfit clad in warm black to his Wildling outing (which would make for a great pairing with an Ygritte on Halloween). But, Jon's outfit, with his classic armor, winter cloak, and Longclaw at his side, seen in the goosebumps-inducing scene where he is crowned King in the North (and most scenes after), would be outstanding.

The Mother Of Dragons

Of all the characters in Game Of Thrones, it is Daenerys Targaryen who has the widest array of memorable outfits, most of which would make for a great fashion outing for Halloween.

Her darker, mad Queen of the Seven Kingdoms look in the finale, her lighter winter clothing, her return to Westeros gear, and any-one of a million outfits from across the Narrow Sea would all make a fantastic outfit, with the standout arguably being the iconic blue dress in the famous Mhysa scene.
