The House of the Dragon is set to be released this August, giving fans the opportunity to see some backstory into the world of Game of Thrones.

Fans are going to be expecting some epic battles from this prequel series, but the showrunners have a lot to live up to. There were many exceptional battles in the original show, but nothing else compared to the intensity of the Battle of the Bastards. The audience loved this climactic battle scene, creating dozens of memes in dedication to it.

Jon And Tormund

Funny meme about Jon and Tormund during the battle of the bastards.

The Battle of the Bastards may have been the most epic battle in the series, but it was also the most intense. For a while, it looked like the odds were stacked against the heroes (literally) and Ramsay was going to turn out victorious. However, the Knights of the Vale came just in time to save the day.

This meme is hilarious not only because Jon had no idea the Vale was going to emerge, but also because these two mighty fighters seemed to be defeated before their rescue. Though Little Finger orchestrates many of the big twists, credit can be given to Sansa for this rescue because Jon's refusal to listen to her advice led her to take matters into her own hands.

Army Vs. Army

Meme about Ramsay's army in the Battle of the Bastards.

The Battle of the Bastards was the best battle in Game of Thrones, but it was Jon's loyal allies that made it exceptional to watch. When Ramsay offers to forgive the lords that allied with Jon, little Lyanna Mormont offers the most withering glare.

The funny part about this meme is that Lyanna is only able to offer sixty-two men to fight alongside the Starks. However, her fierceness is inspirational. Despite her size and age, Lyanna Mormont proves to be one of the bravest characters.

The Hero Davos

Meme about Davos from the Battle of the Bastards.

Davos Seaworth is one of the most likable characters. Despite his older age and lack of combat skills, he is always ready to fight for what he believes in. His courage is inspirational and motivates those that are nervous to take part in the many wars.

The funniest thing about this meme is that Davos is not a fighter and is prone to become overly emotional. However, his passion for doing the right thing motivates leaders just as much as the soldiers. He may not be a force to be reckoned with, but he'll go down fighting regardless.

No More Torture

Meme about Ramsay Bolton not being able to torture from Game of Thrones.

Source: Reddit

Ramsay (Snow) Bolton is one of the most despicable villains in TV history. However, he is also one of the most conniving and determined enemies in the series. His cruelty was unmatched in the series, though there is plenty to go around, allowing his evil nature to shine through other terrible acts.

By the time the battle took place, Ramsay had few people to torment. Sansa and Theon had escaped at the same time, leaving him to focus solely on keeping Winterfell. This meme is so hilarious because it demonstrates how essential torture was to Ramsay's character.

Let's Go, Jon!

Meme about fans routing for Jon during the Battle of the Bastards.

Not all fans are excited about the Jon Snow spinoff, but he still remains to be one of the most favorable characters. Though the odds were against him in this battle, fans were determined to see him come out victorious and were frightened at the prospect of what would happen to him if he lost.

This meme is funny mainly due to the fact fans knew he was outnumbered by the Bolton army but were excited to see him win regardless. Not only was it terrifying for fans to watch him nearly get crushed, but it was equally as frightening to think about what Ramsay could do to Jon had he survived the battle but lost.

Giant On Their Side

Meme about the giant from Game of Thrones.

Source: Twitter

Fans were wondering for a moment if Ramsay would hole up in Winterfell and resist a siege. But it was only for a moment. As soon as the thunderous banging sounded on the gates of Winterfell, the audience knew if a giant could break through the Wall, they would break down a wooden gate.

This meme directly references Hodor as a hero for holding the door to allow Bran to escape the dead. However, it's funny that so many overlook how heroic the giant was in the war. Had they not had his help, Ramsay could have kept Winterfell under his control even after losing the battle.

Dinner Time

Meme about Sansa feeding Ramsay to his hounds in Game of Thrones.

Source: Twitter

Despite how epic of a villain Ramsay was, it was still satisfying to watch him die after the Starks retook Winterfell. Jon nearly killed him in the courtyard of Winterfell, but he stopped before he finished the assault, having made a promise to his sister that Ramsay was hers to deal with.

This meme is so funny because Sansa's smile after feeding Ramsay to his precious hounds was chillingly memorable. Not only had the bastard used the hounds to kill so many people, but he used them to track Sansa and Theon down when they escaped. This scene was the pinnacle of ironic justice.

Happy Reek

Meme about Theon's reaction to Ramsay dying in Game of Thrones.

Source: Twitter

Theon had one of the most intense and heartbreaking changes. In the beginning, he was a cocky young man, but his torture and failures broke his spirit. He became a hero by the end, but it was due to the help and acceptance of the people that cared for him.

Ramsay tormented several characters, but Theon got it the worst. Not only did he use abuse Theon, but he maimed him and broke his mind. Though the audience didn't get to see Theon react to Ramsay's death, they can imagine it was something like this.
