Rise of the Resistance, Galaxy's Edge's flagship attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida's Walt Disney World Resort, debuted with issues as the ride itself broke down on opening day. The trackless dark ride features a motion simulator and puts guests in the middle of the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance, giving fans the feeling of living inside the ongoing sequel trilogy.

There's a long lead-up to the ride with visitors entering a pathway into the forest of what seems like an old hub for ancient civilization. Upon entering a cave-like room, they'll be greeted with Rey (Daisy Ridley) in hologram and BB-8, delivering a message with regard to what lies ahead for the rest of the mission, and quietly meet up with General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher) at a secret location. Things go awry, however, when they were intercepted by the First Order while aboard an Intersystem Transport Ship (I-TS). From there, guests are led to be interrogated by General Hux (Domhall Gleeson) and then Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

After the encounter, this is where patrons are finally led to the main ride, which unfortunately wasn't even able to be used when the doors opened for the new attraction. Screen Rant was actually at Galaxy's Edge to experience Rise of the Resistance before it opened to the public, and it worked fine. However, things changed once it was officially accessible to the general viewing public. Visitors were escorted outside of the ride, some were even stuck with it unmoving. Fortunately, it seems to have been fixed right away, with other park-goers having nothing but good things to say about their experience.

Obviously, no one wanted to experience this kind of snafu especially during a new theme park feature's opening. There was so much hype going on for Rise of the Resistance leading up to its debut. it's a shame that this happened. The whole area looked awesome and the ride itself seemed to be thrilling as seen in Screen Rant's complete walkthrough of the experience. Walt Disney World has yet to comment on this matter, although since the problem appears to have already been fixed, there's a chance that there won't be any official word on the matter - perhaps in the future if the matter is ever raised again.

The opening of Rise of the Resistance's opening is in line with the nearing release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which wraps up the whole Skywalker saga and will feature most of the prominent characters in the latest Galaxy's Edge attraction. Despite its problematic first day, at least Disney World attendees can experience it. Those who prefer to go to Disneyland in California have to wait until January 17, 2020 for that version to open.
