The She-Hulk: Attorney At Law finale raises the possibility that Marvel is finally laying the groundwork for Galactus and Silver Surfer in the MCU. Marvel is slowly but surely setting up the X-Men and officially has a Fantastic Four movie in the pipeline, but its plans for Galactus and his herald remain up in the air. There continues to be no concrete evidence that either character is arriving in the MCU in the Multiverse Saga or beyond.

What may have been the first real step toward both characters joining the MCU occurred in She-Hulk episode 9’s ending when Smart Hulk introduced Skaar to Jen. Apparently, going back to Thor: Ragnarok’s Sakaar and fetching his son was the purpose of his mysterious trip into outer space in the series. Exactly why he brought Skaar back wasn’t explained, but his comic book backstory suggests that Galactus might be responsible. In Marvel Comics, the world-devouring cosmic entity consumed Sakaar. Its destruction at the hands of Galactus is ultimately what forced Sakaar to leave his home behind and come to Earth.

Galactus Would Perfectly Explain She-Hulk’s Skaar Twist

GALACTUS

The obvious implication of She-Hulk’s Skaar twist is that while Hulk was in control on Sakaar, he secretly fathered a son. For a reason that hasn’t been explored yet, Smart Hulk had to head back to the planet to find Skaar. If he already knew of his son’s existence or why would be asked to return now wasn’t addressed. Perhaps the best answer to the latter question is that Galactus was in the process of consuming Sakaar. The planet being in dire straits would provide a working explanation for why Hulk would be asked to retrieve Skaar several years after being missing from his life. It could be that he has no home to go back to because Galactus destroyed it.

Hulk’s Son Can Set Up A Fight With Galactus In The MCU

Skaar prepares to attack in Marvel Comics.

The point of Smart Hulk’s subplot in She-Hulk may not have been to set up Galactus specifically, but it could certainly be used as a building block for the villain’s arrival. The next MCU project that features these characters could include some backstory on Skaar. Galactus could be directly referenced as the cause for Hulk’s last-minute trip to space. Galactus doesn’t need to appear in the flesh, but just a mere mention of his name would be enough to set up a conflict with him in the future.

As an all-powerful being bent on consuming the lifeforce of entire planets, Galactus could easily serve as the main antagonist of an MCU movie, whether it be Fantastic Four, Hulk’s next story, or something else entirely. Once Marvel acknowledges the threat posed by Galactus, the door will be open for both him and Silver Surfer to show up at any time in the shows and movies to come. Based on his importance to the Marvel Universe and Silver Surfer’s reputation as a hero, She-Hulk: Attorney At Law’s Skaar twist has the potential to be a game-changing development in more ways than one.
