Marvel characters Galactus and Silver Surfer appear alongside the Avengers in new Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4 fan art. Though Silver Surfer and Galactus are well-known characters from the comics, they have yet to appear in the MCU. This is because, prior to Disney's acquisition of Fox last year, Marvel didn't own the film rights to the characters. Since that has now changed, many assume Marvel Studios will use Galactus and Silver Surfer in future films. Some fans even believed for a time Galactus had already appeared in the MCU, thanks to an Easter egg in Guardians of the Galaxy. However, director James Gunn eventually debunked that theory.

Following the end of the MCU Phase 3, many fans are looking ahead to Phase 4 and hoping Silver Surfer, Galactus, or both may appear. As Galactus is a cosmic villain, many would like to see him pop up in The Eternals, due out next year. Meanwhile, some floated the idea of Silver Surfer appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder, but director Taika Waititi confirmed that won't be the case. Gunn has similarly said neither Galactus nor Silver Surfer will show up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. However, as Marvel Studios develops its own Fantastic Four movie, it's possible both characters could be on the way.

Until that happens, digital artist Camille Vialet has created a poster with Galactus, Silver Surfer, and the Avengers in the MCU Phase 4. In the image, Galactus and Silver Surfer can both be seen approaching the Avengers from above. Notably, the art shows only current Avengers following the events of Avengers: Endgame, including Thor, Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Doctor Strange. Check out Vialet's work below:

At this point, it's hard to predict if Galactus and Silver Surfer will appear in Phase 4 or if they will be held for Phase 5 and beyond. Galactus is somewhat similar to Thanos, the villain of the Infinity Saga, so Marvel may hold off on using him for awhile. However, Silver Surfer could easily be introduced in another movie before going off to star in his own, similar to Black Panther's introduction in Captain America: Civil War. It seems possible both Galactus and Silver Surfer could play an important role in the future of the MCU.

The Avengers look prepared for a fight in the fan poster. However, in the comics, Silver Surfer works with many Avengers over time, including Hulk and Doctor Strange. The character will likely have a complicated relationship with other superheroes in the MCU, whenever he makes his debut. In the meantime, fans can enjoy Vialet's artwork depicting what could happen with Galactus, Silver Surfer, and the Avengers in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
