Hollywood leading ladies Gal Gadot and Brie Larson are the latest presenters to be announced for The Game Awards next week. There is not much longer to go before the biggest awards show in gaming is here. While 2020 has been an unusual year for everyone, it has been one that has seen the popularity of the video games industry soar, making the upcoming award show one full of anticipation. With lockdown favorites like Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Among Us both up for awards, gamers now have the chance to vote for their favorite titles from the last 12 months.

The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighly has already announced on his Twitter feed that Spider-Man actor Tom Holland will be one of the presenters at the show next week. Aside from reprising his role as Spider-Man in future MCU releases, Tom Holland will also be fronting the upcoming release of the Uncharted film, starring as a younger version of video game lead Nathan Drake. There is much speculation that a new trailer or footage for the Uncharted film will be premiered at The Game Awards, to tie in with Tom Holland’s stint as a presenter.

Now, The Game Awards media team has announced two more superhero leads as presenters for the night; Gal Gadot and Brie Larson. The actresses are both known for their high profile Superhero franchises, with Brie Larson making her debut in the MCU last year as the titular Captain Marvel, while Gal Gadot has been putting her lasso of truth to use as Wonder Woman since 2016. Her latest outing as Amazonian Diana Prince is set in 1984, where she takes on the villainous Cheetah, and that will come out on December 16th after several major delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement of these two stars as presenters for The Game Awards has set many tongues wagging, as both Gal Gadot and Brie Larson are generally associated with films rather than games. This has led fans to wonder if a video game connection to the actors will be announced at the upcoming show. It is no secret that Brie Larson is already a video game fan, sharing a photo of herself bedecked in the leaf print shirt favored by Animal Crossing's one and only Tom Nook on her Instagram account, along with her Nintendo Switch console.

The Game Awards looks set to be a great event, with its high-profile presenters sure to bring in the fans and voters to wrap up the year in glamourous style. Leading the award nominations this year is The Last of Us Part 2, which is up for an incredible 10 accolades. How many it will win though is a story for another day.
