With the recent GTA VI leaks getting the fans excited, fans of the series started reminiscing about how funny some of the earlier installments were. While some games are known for their groundbreaking graphics, game mechanics, or storylines, some games are also remembered for being incredibly funny.

Making a video game that is both funny and entertaining to play at the same time can be incredibly tricky; it is very easy to cross the line into "cringe" or "tacky" while trying to make the game funny. Sometimes developers intentionally make their games funny, while some games turn out to be unintentionally funny.

However, in addition to being highly entertaining, GTA IV does have incredibly funny moments as well. The well-written characters and the conversations between them can leave fans laughing on the ground.

Reddit user Le_Castle_Vania says that GTA IV is "The closest we will get to a Guy Ritchie video game". Guy Ritchie is known for the quippy and outrageous dialogues between his characters. Portal 2

Portal 2

Some games, conceptually, have no right to be as funny as they turned out to be. Portal 2's entire premise was that of a puzzle-solving game, which can be very dry most of the time. But the incredible writing of Portal 2 made it one of the funniest games out there.

Reddit user hanebuch says that Portal 2 "Offered a hilarious script." Some monologues like "Smooth Jazz will be deployed in 3,2,1.." turned out to be funny in every language the game was translated to. Secret Of Monkey Island

Secret of monkey island

Older games with much simpler mechanics and basic graphics can have a really hard time being funny. But Secret Of Monkey Island, published by Lucasfilm games, knocked it out of the park. The simple point-and-click mechanics had some brilliant writing full of sarcastic quips and intentional pauses that influenced a generation's sense of humor. Because of the simple mechanics, it is one of those games where player choices matter a lot.

Reddit user Finder_ feels that Secret Of Monkey Island was so funny because "Of the pauses between dialogues and payoff punchlines." One simple example is when players would click on "Walk" and "To the Sun," the game cleverly and sarcastically says, "Sure! let's walk to the Sun".

West Of Loathing

West of loathing

West Of Loathing is the classic example of not judging a book by its cover, from the outside, the game looks like a boring stick figure RPG, but once people start playing it, not only is the game very entertaining, but it is also hilarious. Reddit user QuestioningLogic says that the game "Made me crack up multiple times." The stick figure animation is really well done, and the clever writing is something that catches players off guard.

JazzPunk

Jazzpunk

JazzPunk is one of the most underrated and overlooked games in recent times. Not only was the adventure storyline quite intriguing, but the art style was also quite refreshing. Most of all, however, players enjoyed the absurdly funny moments spread out throughout the game. The protagonist also had a great backstory which added depth to the character as well.

Reddit user childofthefall says that the game "Had me on the floor wheezing." Moments like giving a guy food poisoning just so he could excrete his liver and after stealing it, the guy wishing the player the best of luck will crack anyone up.

Octodad

Octodad

Playing the game with three other people leads to each person controlling one tentacle, and the resulting coordination will leave players rolling on the ground. Eat Lead
