Schitt's Creek became a success for its funny scenes, heartwarming moments, and vibrant characters. The Canadian comedy is unlike any other show out there, and just about anyone can enjoy and appreciate it. Alexis's wild stories, David's reactions, and Moira's Moira-isms are just a few things that kept audiences laughing.

The show concluded after six seasons, and there are many hilarious episodes to look back on, but it can be hard to pinpoint the best. Luckily, fans over at Reddit have had their say on the matter and recommended the best Schitt's Creek episodes.

Updated on May 6th, 2022 by Stacie Rook: Catherine O'Hara has expressed interest in making a Schitt's Creek movie to ET Canada, so long as it told the right story, and as the very best episodes of Schitt's Creek prove, the show had no shortage of fantastic plots. The wacky predicaments the Rose family often found themselves in were always paired with the series' trademark warmth, combined with memorable jokes that also served to progress story arcs and relationships.

'The Drip' (Season 1, Episode 2)

Johnny Rose lying in bed as water drips on him in Schitt's Creek

Season 1 had a lot of laughs, but according to Redditor Lauren_H92 one of the finest moments came in 'The Drip,' more particularly "the opening scene where they have the leak in the ceiling".  The Roses aren't settling in well at the motel, and a leak above Johnny and Moira's bed is the last straw for Johnny, who decides to take action and sell the town.

From David's comment on his father's sleep attire to how the Roses are grappling with their misfortunes, everything tumbles apart in a hilarious set of scenes. This episode also sees Alexis and David get invited to their first tailgate party, which leads to Alexis being overdressed and David unknowingly joining a beer bong challenge.

'Finding David' (Season 2, Episode 1)

David Rose wielding a pitchfork in a field in Schitt's Creek

By season 2, the Roses have started to find their footing in Schitt's Creek, but not enough to want to stay. When a prospective buyer shows interest, they finally see a way out, but devastatingly the buyer suddenly dies before the sale can occur.

Talking about this episode, which sees David flee the town and end up on an Amish farm, Redditor CreepellaGruesome says that "David cursing about the bug in his dress" was an absolute highlight. Moira, Johnny, and Alexis find David, out of place and having overstayed his welcome, which leads to one of the best confrontations the Rose family have, and of course it's full of memorable one-liners.

'Milk Money' (Season 2, Episode 8)

Johnny Rose stands in front of milk canisters in Schitts Creek

In 'Milk Money,' Johnny decides to embark on a new business venture after trying raw milk at Bob's Garage. When Alexis realizes her ex-fiancé Ted might have a source, it seems like she's doing a good deed for her father. Instead, Johnny walks into his motel room and finds hundreds of dollars worth of illegal raw milk.

The ensuing exchange between Alexis and Johnny is one of the funniest times the Schitt's Creek characters bickered, and it's easy to see why Redditor Eislikewhoa included this episode as one of their top picks, "to name a few," given the strength of the overall season.

'New Car' (Season 3, Episode 3)

Johnny and Moira Rose at a car dealership in Schitt's Creek

As Redditor efox02 says, this episode is remembered for the sequence "where they go to buy a car." Having borrowed money from David, Johnny and Moira head to a local dealership, and Johnny attempts to dress like a local for the occasion. Once there, Moira's odd choice of accent doesn't help the proceedings.

In the end, the dealer recognizes Moira from her soap opera and gives the Roses a great deal. Across town, Stevie learns her aunt has passed away, leaving her the motel. David accompanies Stevie to the funeral parlor, where an exchange between the pair and the funeral directors is likewise awkwardly funny.

'Motel Review' (Season 3, Episode 8)

Moira sits at the motel reception talking to a man in Schitts Creek

Just as Johnny is starting to improve the motel's appearance and brand, he asks Moira to manage the front desk. This is a terrible idea, as Redditor Amsel29 points out, because of "the fussy little" customer Moira's confronted with, and she completely botches the interaction, resulting in the motel getting a bad review.

Meanwhile, at the local high school, Alexis begins classes to complete her education in a scene that shows just how long it's been since she's been a student. This episode also marks the first meeting of relatable couple David and Patrick, and though their first interaction is stilted, it's still charmingly funny.

'Pregnancy Test' (Season 4, Episode 2)

Johnny, Moira, and Alexis Rose in the Motel in Schitt's Creek

According to Amsel29, the "opening scene of Pregnancy Test" is a winner. When Johnny empties Alexis's bathroom garbage, he discovers a pregnancy test, and assumes that Alexis is with child. Instead, the secret she's hiding is that she's about to enroll in college. This episode also marks the first instance of Moira's "bebe" quote, which remains one of the show's funniest Moira-isms.

Throughout the episode, Johnny believes Alexis's odd behavior is because of her pregnancy, and when Alexis finds out, she plays along. Out of all of Johnny's parenting moments, though, his acceptance of Alexis in this episode is one of the best.

'Girl's Night' (Season 4, Episode 4)

Alexis and Twyla prepare for a night out in Schitt's Creek

By this episode, Ted and Alexis are just friends, and he has moved o with someone else. An oblivious Moira talks on and on about his new girlfriend, unaware of how hurt Alexis is. When Moira discovers her faux pas, she decides to make amends by playing the role of chauffeur for Alexis and Twyla on their night out.

As Redditor levkat22 points out, this episode sees "Moira genuinely working to be closer" to Alexis, showing how far she's come since season 1. In classic Schitt's Creek style, though, she does it with whimsy. Alexis also has some big realizations while out, making this a vital episode for both Rose women.

'The Barbecue' (Season 4, Episode 7)

Johnny and Patrick at a grill while Moira and David sit together in Schitt's Creek

By the end of season 4, David and Patrick have made their relationship semi-official. To mark their anniversary, Patrick sends David a large cookie, which embarrasses him in front of his family, in a scene that really brings out the Roses' dysfunctional dynamic.

Redditor nthnnh sums up this episode as"the perfect balance of funny and lovely", as what follows is a celebratory Rose family barbecue that David unsuccessfully attempts to keep Patrick away from. More drama follows, but the essence of this episode remains sweet.

'Housewarming' (Season 5, Episode 5)

Stevie, Patrick, and David watch a drunk Ted in Schitt's Creek

In an episode that Redditor Caliban821 says "shows off the skills of the cast," 'Housewarming' sees Patrick plan a housewarming party without David's help. He decides on a slumber party theme, and everyone lets their hair down, particularly Ted, showing a strict contrast to his normally maintained image.

As if this episode couldn't get any funnier, Roland and Jocelyn are in desperate need of a babysitter and have no choice but to turn to Johnny and Moira. Though Moira and Johnny have great parenting scenes, viewers know that the couple was never hands-on when David and Alexis were children, so their interactions with Roland Jr. are the source of many laughs.

'The M.V.P.' (Season 5, Episode 9)

David and Johnny Rose in baseball uniforms in Schitt's Creek

Redditor LoveToPost lists 'The M.V.P.' as one of their "season 5 favorite episodes". The annual baseball championship game between Café Tropical and Bob's Garage approaches, and Johnny and David are recruited to play on opposite teams. While it's just a regular small-town activity, Johnny and David couldn't be any less prepared for a game like this.

When father and son appear in their uniforms, they may look the part, but they don't have the skills to back themselves up. David in particular states that he would rather be anywhere else but there, but the game goes on, and features some amusing plays from both teams.
