Morbius has become an internet sensation since its release. With poor prescreening reviews and even worse general audience reviews, it's shaping up to be one of the disliked Marvel movies by fans, experiencing a huge week one to week two drop at the box office.

With this intense of a reaction, moviegoers are inclined to race to the internet and share their opinions and jokes about the popular topic film. When it comes to Morbius, Twitter has been a hotbed of reactions, memes, and hilarious observations about the entire situation.

A Morbillion Dollars

One of the biggest memes about Morbius circulating the internet was a movement called #MorbiusSweep, where fans parodied that Morbius had topped the charts of every movie ever made in box office success.

The next step, naturally, was for fans to make up a new number to reflect just how "successful" the film was, with this tweet saying that Morbius is "the first movie to make a Morbillion dollars in the box office." It's a double reference, in fact, as many fans are also putting the word "Mor" in front of other words to poke more fun at the film.

No More Vampire Movies

While Morbius certainly isn't one of the best vampire movies to ever be made, the fact that there are vampires in the film is not what caused it to be so disliked by fans. But, apparently, that's what executives think that the problem was.

Even though fans have complained about predictable plot points, slow pacing, and having an uninteresting main character, vampire-centric movies are being canceled left and right as a result of the reaction to Morbius -- instead of critically thinking that the problem may be more complex than the vampire subject matter.

Who Is El Muerto?!

Even though the previous tweet references that the main issue with Morbius might be the familiarity with the main protagonist and distance from Spider-Man that the movie took, production has started on yet another lower-tier Spider-Man villain origin story without Spider-Man.

While superhero movies are particularly geared toward comic book fans, one of the main reasons for Morbius' lack of success was that it did not have the mass appeal that other movies in the genre have. Sony hasn't learned their lesson, though, and is planning a movie about El Muerto starring Bad Bunny.

Shedding A Tear

There are a few different upcoming projects that could feature Dr. Morbius, but Sony didn't confirm any plans for a sequel for the Living Vampire's own film franchise. Twitter news featured an article saying as much, titled, "Tears shed as Sony fails to announce 'Morbius' sequel at CinemaCon."

Whether said in earnest or sarcasm, the article was funny to many fans, with one retweeting it and asking, "Who shed a tear for Morbius? Who?" With the overarching reaction to the film being negative, it's hard to believe anyone was too upset.

It's Time To Stop F***ing Around

In another joke about Sony's future plans to feature yet another unknown Spider-Man villain movie, this Twitter user used a stock picture of an executive conference room meeting and tweeted fake dialogue reading, "Morbius was a failure. It's time we stop f***ing around and unveil EL MUERTO."

It seems like the exact wrong move to choose El Muerto for the next main character, especially when there are so many other superheroes and villains in Marvel comics Sony could use for their next project, and this tweet points out that they should choose a sure success after the way audiences reacted to Morbius.

The Lights Were On

Audiences know they're in for an interesting experience when the movie theater staff don't even bother to turn off the auditorium lights when the film starts. One fan tweeted out their experience where just that happened during their screening of Morbius.

The Twitter user showed a still image of Morbius playing with the caption "They didn't even turn the lights off for Morbius." It seems like no one was taking anything very seriously as far as this particular film was concerned.

It's Morbin' Time!

In one of the hilarious TikToks about Morbius, a TikToker used audio of the audience in a Spider-Man: No Way Home screening and played it over a lackluster Morbius scene to pretend that fans were yelling in excitement as Matt Smith danced around onscreen.

This tweet has that same energy, reading "When Morbius said his iconic catchphrase 'It's morbin' time!' my cinema all cheered, this is cinema." Not only is it yet another play on the word Morbius, using it as the Power Rangers catchphrase, but the image of that potential scene is great.

Tying Into Morbius

When news hit that the Into The Spider-Verse sequel was being delayed, they wasted no time making it into a joke about Morbius and its effects on the Spider-Man cinematic universe.

Marvel is well known for tying together its different projects and there are Easter eggs and references in almost all of its cinematic universe. So, to make a joke about the delayed release of Across The Spider-Verse, this Twitter user said that they must be tying Morbius into any extended film production.

Let's Go!

Many interested people haven't seen Morbius yet because the film went to theaters instead of straight to streaming services--and with jokes about tickets being left in broken-in cars instead of taken and ticket sales declining more and more, it's safe to say that this Twitter user facetiously mentioned that they lost their apartment because they spent all their money on Morbius tickets.

This goes along perfectly with the Morbius meme culture online currently. Internet users are critical and harsh--using intense sarcasm and parody to drag Morbius over and over again all across the web.

Drake Meme

Morbius was up against some pretty stiff competition during the month of its theatrical release. With movies like The Batman and Sonic 2 showing at the same time, it proved even more devastating for Morbius ticket sales and public opinion.

The Drake disapproval and approval meme is one of the most popular meme templates on the internet, and this fan used to pit Morbius against Sonic 2, which coincidentally did infinitely better with audiences during its time in theaters.
