Memes come and go fairly quickly, although a handful manage to stick around for a while. A recent meme that has lasting potential is the one on YouTube where people edit TV and movie characters into the world of Morrowind, creating scenarios that are weirdly fitting.

These videos are definitely a little strange and esoteric, but that's what makes them entertaining. They have a Vine-like quality about them in their brevity and absurdity, so they are a lot of fun if you're looking for something to binge to pass the time.

Borat In Morrowind

In many ways, this is a perfect mashup. Borat 2 is already a story about being in over your head in a place you don't understand, and it's one of Sacha Baron Cohen's best movies. Putting him in Morrowind feels like it was meant to happen and he takes to it pretty well.

Not only is Borat comfortable with the local wildlife, he seems pretty happy to be wherever he is, and he even manages to bite his tongue while hanging out with Vivec. Good for Borat!

Peter Parker In Morrowind

Poor Peter (Tobey Maguire's, to be exact) has a worse start to his journey in Morrowind, as one of many victims of the Scroll of Icarian Flight. Without the proper training, anyone who uses the scroll ends up plummeting to their deaths. Thankfully for Peter, he's made of sturdier stuff than that.

What's great about this video is that it also plays on what some feel is the painfully slow start to Morrowind ... literally. With such a low acrobatics skill to start with, players more or less just slowly jog their way to the next town - or, in Peter's case, limp.

The Real Bros Of Simi Valley - First Time Playing Morrowind

Taken from the cult-favorite web series The Real Bros Of Simi Valley, two guys find themselves in a conflict of interest when a little Scrib walks up to them. Despite the creatures being harmless and fairly passive, the guy wearing a Colovian fur helm gets nervous and pulls out a dagger.

Thankfully for the Scrib, he's got some humans to defend him because the little guy is just trying to get from one place to another. Maybe Simi Valley's finest should just stay away from Morrowind next time...

SpongeBob Squarepants Meets Morrowind - Patrick's Grand & Intoxicating Innocence

There was a time in the early 2010s when memes about Dagoth Ur, Morrowind's main antagonist, were pretty hot commodities. It's refreshing to see them being brought back in this new format, especially combined with the antics of SpongeBob Squarepants.

Here, we see Patrick defy Dagoth's ramblings as he makes his status as the Nerevarine clear to everyone in Goo Lagoon. In an act of madness, he pulls the heart apart, revealing Dagoth's less-than-impressive figure in heart-printed bottoms. Hopefully, both will recover from this instance.

Nicholas Cage Becomes A Vampire In Morrowind

There's a reason so many people love Nicholas Cage, and it's because of his off-the-wall method acting, which translates beautifully to a game that's so off the wall itself.

Heads up for anyone who's squeamish: after running through the streets screaming "I'm a Vampire!" Cage returns to his apartment to feast on a hearty dinner of bugs - or, in this case, kwama larva. It was a disgusting enough scene in Vampire's Kiss, but somehow, this rendition is even nastier.

Tom Cruise In Morrowind

The beginning of Morrowind is truly a rude awakening, as the player is basically defenseless with horrible stats and armor, to begin with. This is why, when the poor wizard falls from the sky just north of Seyda Neen, players feel like gods right off the bat when they take his gear.

This video encapsulates this feeling, with Tom's hair flowing in the wind and the sun shining on his face. However, like many players, his hubris gets the best of him as he uses the aforementioned Scroll of Icarian Flight. Since it's daredevil Tom Cruise, though, maybe his rude landing was intentional.

Angry Video Game Nerd - Wanna Listen To Some Morrowind Tunes?

Remember Angry Video Game Nerd? His use of green screens and his ridiculous reactions make him the perfect candidate for these kinds of videos, as seen here.

To get one of the battle themes going, the Nerd throws a dagger at a cliff racer: one of the most-hated enemies in the entirety of the Elder Scrolls franchise. But instead of panicking, he starts jamming to the battle theme as the monster approaches him.

American Psycho in Morrowind

As a movie with an almost cult-like following, it makes sense that fans have found many ways to celebrate American Psycho's behind-the-scenes facts, quotes and scenes. But there's actually an entire subset of memes that solely uses clips from American Psycho and pairs them with other media, so it makes sense that this crossover happened.

All the "elite" businessmen in the scene gather around to trade cards of their most valuable items. Patrick presents what many players covet at the beginning of the game: a Limeware Platter that can sell for quite a bit. But things go downhill for him as soon as a coworker presents the dreaded aforementioned Scroll of Icarian Flight ... only for it to be revealed that Paul Allen, of all people, owns a Colovian Fur Helm.

Spongebob Tries To Open A Lock In Morrowind

This one is truly an editing masterpiece, as it effectively and hilariously showcases Morrowind's UI. As SpongeBob and Patrick are stuck in Sandy's Winter Treedome, they fail to escape as their Lockpicking levels are too low. Chaos ensues as poor SpongeBob starts to panic, one of the many times we've felt sorry for SpongeBob.

So Patrick tries to use the spell Open Sesame, but in true Morrowind fashion, it doesn't quite work out, even in his moment of need. The use of sound effects in this scene is especially great, including the failure-to-cast sound and the potion-drinking sound.

Mac And Charlie Bartering In Morrowind

Mac and Charlie from It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia seem like they could fit in perfectly in any video game because of their sheer chaotic energy, and this scene is no different.

Starting off fresh in Morrowind really makes the player feel poor because initially, it can be hard to get any money at all. That's why these little bartering victories feel all the more impressive - even if it's at the expense of the player's relationship with the vendor.
