Tangled (2010)

Disney; Princess; Gothel

Tangled is one of the best princess movies that Disney has ever made amount of humor throughout. Rapunzel herself is a very funny character, mainly because she is totally out of her comfort zone, but she's also happy to stand up for herself and that leads to some generally uplifting moments too.

But it's really the supporting characters that make this movie so funny. Maximus, in particular, is very funny, with his love/hate relationship with Flynn Rider really being a highlight of the film, while the scene in the pub that saw the characters stereotypes totally smashed also really stands out in Disney's overall history. It was a much more self-aware type of fairytale for a post-Shrek world.

Goofy and his son Max in A Goofy Movie (1995)

A Goofy Movie is a film that often flies under the radar because it isn't one of the classic Disney Renaissace movies but came out during that time period. However, it is a fantastic film and one that is a ton of fun, providing lots of amazing physical comedy, with Goofy being his usual clumsy over-the-top self.

Goofy and his son, Max, have a great relationship that feels really genuine, breaking up the slapstick with moments that can be really relatable. Both of them are just so awkward, but in the most charming and funny ways possible, giving the movie a unique feel.

Their reactions to the things that Mulan says and does are very funny, with Eddie Murphy bringing some incredible one-liners with his over the top charisma really working well as a counterbalance to the more serious drama. Plus, the three soldiers that Mulan becomes friends with also bring tons of fun here, being incredibly lovable with their distinct personalities.

Baymax is programmed in a truly robotic fashion in the sense that he just says exactly what he sees and thinks. It's very unintentional humor, but it is really funny, plus the physical comedy that comes from him when he deflates is also side-splitting.

Aladdin (1992)

Aladdin 1992

Any movie that has Robin Williams in one of the lead roles–where he is allowed to do a lot of improvisation too–is always going to lead to a riotously funny time. That was the case with Aladdin, which is not only one of Disney's greatest animated movies overall, but one that really focuses on comedy too.

The Genie is such a funny character, bringing out great one-liners that will entertain younger viewers while providing a lot of funny impressions and pop-culture references that adults will connect with. But while he gets a lot of attention, Iago slips under the radar as a comically grumpy henchman, while Abu and the Magic Carpet fill the movie with physical comedy.

The Emperor's New Groove (2000)

Kronk serving Yzma and Kuzco

When it comes to Disney's funniest movie, there is no question that The Emperor's New Groove is one of the best picks of the bunch. This film is filled with hilarious one-liners from start to finish and it never lets up on delivering a great range of humor.

There's physical comedy, sarcasm, dry wit, and over-the-top comedy, really something for everyone. The back and forth bickering between Kuzco and Pacha is a lot of fun, while Kronk is arguably the single-funniest Disney character of all time with his sweet temperment bringing a lot of charm to this great film.
