Ever since the first few images for Ridley Scott's House of Gucci began circulating the internet, fans have been turning the over-the-top, fashion-filled melodrama into memes. It only makes sense -- the powerful fashion brand itself released its latest watch campaign in meme format, with dynamic artists and meme creators coming together to snag the attention of style-savvy shoppers scrolling through social media.
The passionate drama of the movie has inspired various meme creators to come together and capture the excessive quality, the wild performances, and intrigue surrounding its tragic subject matter. Given House of Gucci's murderous ending, a little brevity can't hurt.
One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other
In the weeks leading up to House of Gucci's highly anticipated release, the stars took to the red carpet to promote the fashion-filled film, where they understandably weren't understated in their looks. A vacation shot from the movie featuring Maurizio and Patrizia Gucci in fashionable winterwear prompted a flurry of memes involving various snowy landscapes, but none could top the one with the Rebel Alliance's Echo Base from The Empire Strikes Back, located on the ice planet of Hoth. The large ion canon seen in the meme was used to cover escape transports of personnel when Imperial forces attacked.
What makes the meme so appropriate is not only its winter backdrop, but the fact that Adam Driver was one of the lead actors in the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. As Kylo Ren, he spent a significant amount of time in the snow hunting a defected stormtrooper and Jedi hopeful through the tundra of Ilum, the ice planet that hosted the First Order's Starkiller Base.
Father, Son, And House Of Gucci
The now-iconic line "Father, Son, and House of Gucci" spoken by Lady Gaga while she's crossing her heart lends itself well to any number of memes, but one of the best involves the way to remember cardinal directions North, South, East, and West.
The famous piece of dialogue occurs when she swears to Gucci that she can keep a secret from Paolo, but by this time Patrizia Reggiani is already planning to use the information he gives her to manipulate him (and his father) further down the line.

As powerful and influential as the pair were, their extravagant appearance disguised the hypocrisy of their hidden private lives. That's perhaps why this meme compares them to co-pastors at a megachurch, institutions that are known to appropriate elements of pop culture and use popularity and wealth to promote a staggeringly large religious membership.

Patrizia Gucci explains early in the movie why she's attracted to the Gucci family, believing its surname to embody power, wealth, and style. She also implies that the name is also a curse, because it's associated with familial dysfunction, avarice, and a lack of integrity.
A name is just a word until it's given meaning, as this meme featuring a bottle of Corona over Maurizio's head illustrates. Up until recently, Corona wasn't associated with anything other than beer, but thanks to the Coronavirus, now associations tied to the bottle will be of a global pandemic.
