The new updates on the next Fuller House spin-off effectively betray the core appeal of Full House. Netflix revived the cult family sitcom in 2016 with Fuller House which brought back the Tanners on the small screen. It ran for five seasons until it was canceled, a decision that shocked the cast themselves. Since then, there have been rumblings about doing another Full House spin-off which will allow the Tanners to continue their story. Unfortunately, despite the interest in it, the latest news about the matter doesn't sound to be very promising as moving forward with it could be detrimental to Full House's overall legacy.

Initially, the cast was unified about doing another Full House spin-off. Things have seemingly changed, however. Between Jodie Sweetin's Full House spin-off timeline update and John Stamos' straight-up refusal to revisit the family sitcom without Bob Saget, the cast is no longer on the same page about the future of the TV franchise. This shatters the image that like the Tanner family, they themselves are always in sync with each other. Now, the actors have varying degrees of interest in doing a Fuller House follow-up and are no longer a single unit when it comes to this topic which betrays the core appeal of the franchise.

Why It Would Be Difficult To Do Another Full House Spinoff Now

Now that the cast is no longer on the same page about doing another Full House spin-off, it makes the possibility of it bleaker. Before this development, however, several actors from the show were spotted hanging out together, floating the idea that they might be secretly cooking up a Full House revival. On top of that, Candace Cameron-Bure's new role at Great American Family makes Fuller House season 6 more possible than ever as it could lead to the show nabbing a programming spot in the network. However, even with an available platform, it would be difficult to move forward with the proposed project with an incomplete cast.

When Will The Next Full House Spinoff Happen?

Fuller House cast

With no plans for the next Full House spin-off, coupled with some cast members' hesitation to reprise their roles, it might be a while before the offshoot happens, if at all. Unlike Stamos, however, who doesn’t want to do Fuller House season 6 without Saget, Sweetin isn't totally closing the door on the possibility. Aside from the actors' personal thoughts about doing another Full House offshoot, many of them are also booked with other jobs for the next couple of years which will make it trickier to do it in the near future.

Fuller House season 6 potentially taking up to 20 years to happen means that the project could adapt Sweetin's proposed premise. According to her, the next Full House spin-off could be inspired by The Golden Girls where Stephanie, DJ, and Kimmy all live together like Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia did in Miami. Perhaps by then, everyone would be back on the same page about revisiting the family sitcom. In any case, it’s better to wait for that moment instead of forcing the situation now and betraying Full House’s core message of being a strong family unit.
