With the final episodes of Fuller House now available on Netflix, what are the chances of a season 6 happening? Debuting in 2016, Netflix's spin-off of the '80s/early '90s family-centric sitcom, Full House brought back the Tanner family on the small screen with brand new adventures. This time, however, the narrative shifted to Danny Tanner's (Bob Saget) two oldest daughters: DJ Tanner-Fuller (Candace Cameron-Bure) and Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), alongside their long-time friend, Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber).

Instead of dropping all 18 episodes at once, Netflix split Fuller House's final season, with its first 9 outings first going live in December 2019, with the remaining ones dropping in June 2020. Part 1 ends on something of a happy cliffhanger with DJ accepting her first love, Steve's (Scott Weinger) proposal of marriage, setting up a triple wedding for the She-Wolf pack. With Fuller House's run now complete, fans are wondering what the future holds for the Tanners.

Fuller House Ends with Season 5

Fuller House cast

After five seasons of new stories, the iconic San Francisco home is officially saying goodbye once again as Netflix pulls the plug on Fuller House. It was early 2019, shortly after all 13 episodes of season 4 dropped on the streaming service that it was announced that Fuller House season 5 would be its last. No word was given on what motivated the cancelation, but while the platform is notorious for not releasing viewership numbers, reports claim that there was a significant decrease in ratings between seasons 1 and 2 - this is despite critical reviews for the show improving on its sophomore year.

This most likely means that after the general viewing public checked what hype surrounding the revival was about, Fuller House didn't interest them enough to tune in for season 2 and potentially its succeeding seasons. However, the relatively large fan base coming from the original show kept the show going for four more seasons until Netflix decided it was time to end the series.

There Are Currently No Plans for Fuller House Season 6

Fuller House The Farewell Season

As the Tanner family closes their doors once again, it's unclear when or if they will be reopened. At this point, there are no known plans for another spin-off as the cast and crew have been mostly focused on promoting Fuller House's final nine episodes. That being said, it doesn't mean that the fan-favorite clan won't be back on the screen ever. John Stamos, who plays Uncle Jesse, and is an executive producer on the Netflix show tried multiple times to push for some sort of Full House revival years before Fuller House was picked up - that included a reunion film, as well as a reboot movie. So depending on how things go in the next few years, there's still a chance that talks for a third Full House series or even another season of Fuller House might begin to continue the story of the Tanner family. For now, though, fans should simply enjoy the last remaining outings for the sequel.
