Candace Cameron-Bure and Jodie Sweetin recall filming Fuller House's emotional finale. Reprising their Full House roles as DJ and Stephanie in the Netflix project, the older Tanner sisters were front and center of the show, alongside their long-time friend Kimmy (Andrea Barber). As the spinoff sequel ends with a triple wedding, all three main leads decide to continue living under the same roof despite a previous agreement that Stephanie and Kimmy were going to move out of the Tanner family home with their respective families.

Netflix split Fuller House's season 5 into two parts - initially dropping its first 9 outings in December 2019, which ended on a surprise marriage proposal to DJ by her high school sweetheart, Steve (Scott Weinger). At this point, Stephanie and Kimmy were already engaged to Jimmy (Adam Hagenbuch) and Fernando (Juan Pablo Di Pace), fans expected that the remaining episodes will build towards a triple wedding which was the case. The girls' father figures - Danny (Bob Saget), Jesse (John Stamos), and Joey (Dave Coulier) - drop by from time to time, but for the most part, the focus is on the She-Wolf Pack as they deal with various issues before their big day.

Speaking with TV Guide on the heels of Fuller House's finale. Cameron-Bure and Sweetin talk about what it's like filming the show's final scene which features Stephanie and Kimmy saying goodbye to DJ as they move out of the house. Not long after they go out of the door, however, a knock comes in with the two rushing back to the house, admitting that they don't really want to move. DJ is ecstatic about this, and the show ends with all three families still living under the same roof. The actors recall filming the scene, revealing that it's a bittersweet experience.

Cameron-Bure: I didn't even wanna memorize my dialogue. The words hurt too much. It was a difficult day and a difficult scene to get through.

Sweetin: We were all excited for this closure and to really do this last episode and do it with such love but I think at the same time, we were also dreading that last scene because we all knew just the emotion that would be there.

While Cameron-Bure and Sweetin have technically undergone a similar thing when Full House ended more than two decades ago, they spent much of the original shows as kids, so it didn't really sink how special that experience was compared to when they reprised their roles in Fuller House. Instead of being the young cast, DJ and Stephanie are front-and-center in the spinoff sequel. The former's story mirrors her dad's arc, losing her husband with three kids to raise, while the latter struggles with pregnancy issues only to end up being a mother to Danielle - a story somehow reminiscent of her Uncle Jesse.

Seeing Cameron-Bure and Sweetin reprise their roles as Danny's kids was a treat for many Full House fans. Unfortunately, until the very end, Michelle (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) is a no-show, with Fuller House not even bothering explaining why she's not in her sister's wedding. Granted that the series already explained that she's now based in NYC, it's still odd that no one mentions her during the festivities considering how big the Tanner is maintaining a close-knit relationship with their family members.
