Candace Cameron Bure promises that fans will be able to spot some Fuller House Easter eggs in her new Hallmark Christmas movie, The Christmas Contest. After five seasons, the popular Full House spin off show, Fuller House, concluded with season 5 in June 2020. Starring Bure, alongside her original cast co-stars, the show revisited the lives of the Tanner family and their friends, instantly becoming a nostalgia packed hit. Bure played eldest sister D.J. Tanner, who had two main love interest in Fuller House: her Full House childhood sweetheart Steve (Scott Weigner) and veterinarian Matt (John Brotherton). After rejecting Matt's proposal, D.J. ends up reigniting her romance with Steve, and ultimately ends up with him.

As the holiday season draws closer, Hallmark Channel has already lined up 41 new Christmas movies to premiere every weekend, starting Friday October 22. Starring Candace Cameron Bure and her Fuller House co-star John Brotherton, fans will be able to watch The Christmas Contest when it premieres on November 28. Considering opinions were divided on whether D.J. should have ended up with Matt or Steve, the two actors reuniting on the set of their Hallmark Christmas movie may feel like a small victory for #TeamMatt.

In a recent interview with E! Online, Bure shared her excitement about working with Brotherton again, dedicating the film to "all the fans that wanted Matt and D.J. together." When asked what she could tease about the movie, Bure went on to announce that there are many Fuller House Easter eggs that fans may be able to spot. Read her full comment below:

"What can I tease about the movie? Well, it's The Christmas Contest so it's very competitive. There's lots of fun Easter eggs for those Fuller House fans. This is a rom-com. There's a lot of comedy and there's a lot of heart."

With all the feel-good traits of a typical Hallmark holiday movie, it appears that fans are in for an extra treat when it comes to those Fuller House references. Bure and Brotherton were undoubtedly excited about working together again, with Brotherton also joining the interview and sharing his take on the movie. The Fuller House star said "reuniting with Candace was a hoot" and that Fuller House fans would feel "satisfied" if they hadn't been originally.

It looks like D.J. and Matt will be having their happy ending (of sorts) after all in the way of a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie. However, this may raise the debate once again of whether D.J. Tanner should have ended up with Matt or Steve. As far as the Fuller House story goes, D.J. and Matt will be forever frozen as firm friends and nothing more, but at least the actors had a chance to play out another on-screen romance in The Christmas Contest. It remains to be known what other Fuller House Easter eggs will appear in the movie, but they will no doubt be spotted by eagle-eyed fans when the movie premieres next month.
