Fuller House, sequel to the late 80s/early 90s sitcom Full House, has run for four seasons on Netflix, with the fifth and final one set to debut in late 2019. Through the series, relationships have been an integral storyline for everybody (from the parental units to the teens), including failed relationships, unrequited ones, confusing ones, and happily-ever-afters.
This has seen many “significant” others come into the life of the Tanner family/extended family. So, who are the best significant others? Let's take a look! Here they all are, ranked.
Teri Tanner
Introduced in the original series Full House, Theresa, otherwise known as Teri, was dad Danny’s girlfriend, who he finally married in the series finale. While most women were turned off by Danny’s obsessive nature when it came to cleaning, she seemed to adore it, even saying to him once “I love it when you talk clean to me.”
She only appeared in the series premiere of the sequel, however, after which it was confirmed that they had apparently divorced.There’s no reason given as to why they divorced, but it definitely took a toll on Danny. Anyone who upsets Danny can’t possibly rank high on the list of significant others.
C.J. Harbenger
OK, so Steve isn’t really a family member of the Tanners. But let’s face it, when it comes to the Tanners, anyone in their inner circle is considered “family.” C.J. was the new girlfriend who got in the way of D.J. and Steve’s destiny to be together.
We can’t blame C.J., of course. She was a nice woman all around. But her weird likeness to D.J. is clearly what attracted Steve to her. So, when she was left at the altar in Japan, we really did feel for her. It was never meant to be, which is why when it comes to significant others, she was far from significant to Steve.
Bobby Popko
(Sort of) boyfriend to Ramona, and best friend to Tanner son Jackson, Bobby is your typical teenage boy. Which means he acts tough but deep down, he just wants to be accepted. He’s also a consummate “bad boy” and often a bad influence on Jackson.
He was Ramona’s first kiss, but when she rejeced him, he posted a video on YouTube making fun of her. He gets points for his heartfelt apology, but then things go south and she dumps him. Still, it’s clear he has feelings for Ramona, and once he matures, things could look up for the young pair.
Rebecca Katsopolis
A key part of the original series, Rebecca has returned in the sequel, still married to uncle Jesse and working alongside Danny on their morning show.
Now with two grown sons, they have adopted a little girl. Rebecca seems distant and often annoyed with her husband. Still, she has always been a good support for the family, and she and Jesse challenge one another, which seems to have been keeping their spark alive. Nevertheless, with the likelihood of the character being written out of the fifth and final season, will they end it in divorce, or simply have her not appear on camera?
Rocki Mahan
Rocki is your typical dark and brooding teenage girl, which is the complete opposite to the goofy and bubbly Jackson. Yet they seem to go together well, despite D.J.’s objections because of Rocki being the daughter of her high school rival Gia. There is a softer side to Rocki, and while she helps Jackson become more confident and stand up for himself, he also helps her open up - especially when she’s around the cheesy Fuller family.
After a short break-up after Rocki declared that she did want a label and to be in a committed relationship, Jackson did something despicable and made fun of her at the high school prom to cope. Still, thanks to the birth of Stephanie’s baby, the teens find their way back to one another.
Fernando Guerrero
Ex to Kimmy Gibbler, who is like family to the Fullers, Fernando loses tons of points because he cheated on Kimmy multiple times. Still, he has spent the entire series fawning over her and doing whatever he can to win her back.
He has worked hard to earn her trust, and re-build his family, convincing Kimmy to be engaged to him for a second time. Despite D.J. still not having forgiven Fernando for what he did, Kimmy seems to be willing to give him a second chance. Does he deserve it, or does Kimmy deserve better? They seem to be so perfectly matched, and Fernando seems to have atoned for his sins, that keeping their family together might be the best option.
Jimmy Gibbler
Just as dorky and clueless as his older sister Kimmy, Jimmy caught the attention of middle Tanner daughter Stephanie, mainly due to his rugged good looks. When she realized he was Kimmy’s little brother, all grown up, however, she took a step back. But in the end, the chemistry was too much to resist.
Through the series, Jimmy has shown himself to be seriously dedicated to Stephanie, even agreeing to father to her in-vitro baby. He then rejects a job offer in Oakland, CA to stay with Stephanie and the baby, and proposes to her at the end of Season 4, just after she gives birth to their child.
Dr. Matt Harmon
It might sound odd that two men, both of whom were the significant other to the same woman, would be ranked in the top two. But just as D.J. had trouble choosing between Matt and Steve, they were both equally great partners, so we felt her pain.
A partner in her veterinarian business, with a passion for animals just like D.J., Matt is quirky, fun, and upbeat, and made a positive impact on D.J. as she struggled with dating after the death of her husband. He was head over heels in love with both her and the family, and even proposed. But alas, it was not meant to be, and they were better off as friends.
Steve Hale
D.J.’s high school boyfriend, it always seemed like Steve was “the one.” Yet they didn’t end up together, both going on to marry others. But in the sequel, Steve reappears, and it’s clear there’s still a spark there. For Steve, it seems he has always held a torch for D.J., which is totally sweet (though not so much for Steve’s ex-wife).
Steve had to fight a tall, handsome veterinarian for D.J.’s affections, and, typical of Steve, ended up becoming friends with the rival in the process. But we were rooting for Steve to win all along. He did, getting the girl and even giving up --or at least putting on hold-- his dream job to do so.
