Fans like to see how they resemble their favorite Full House character and those with a background similar to Jesse’s will relate to him. In fact, Jesse has a European background, with the character being half-Greek and half-Italian.

His Greek side was most highlighted in the series, with several relatives also visiting him. This is his father’s side of the family, with Jesse’s Italian background coming from the maternal line.

Why Did His Last Name Change?

Those who have checked out the first season of Full House will know that Jesse’s last name wasn’t the one he had later on. He was originally named Jesse Cochran in Full House’s first year, but this was changed to Jesse Katsopolis.

There was a specific reason for this, with John Stamos requesting this change. It was due to the actor wanting the character to reflect his real-life Greek heritage, and thus the name Katsopolis was chosen in order to align him with Greek culture.

When Was He Born?

This is one of the most common questions about the character since Jesse was established to be younger than Danny and Joey. In fact, he’s a good five years or so younger than the duo, with his date of birth falling on April 1, 1963.

This made Jesse only 24-years-old when Full House began and still just 32-years-old when the series ended. It makes sense why he went through such periods of transition during the series, as the events were set during a time where Jesse had to mature.

Who Is In His Immediate Family?

While family-related questions are common with Danny, Jesse will always be connected to Danny due to Danny being married to Jesse's late sister, Pam. Jesse’s background was pretty well documented in the series, with appearances from his mother, Irene, and father, Nick.

When Full House began, Danny was strictly Jesse’s brother-in-law and Joey was the reluctant housemate of Jesse’s. Soon enough, though, he began to see both of them as his best friends. However, the person deserving of the singular title has to be Joey.

While some might argue they weren’t all that close, there’s more evidence pointing in Joey’s favor. Jesse named Joey as his original choice as his best man, only choosing Danny as co-best man when the latter felt hurt. Jesse also openly called Joey his best friend and Danny, usually, as his brother-in-law. Even in a fantasy sequence, Jesse imagined Joey confirming he was Jesse’s best friend.

What Is His Real Name?

Jesse is the popular name for the character, but the name on his birth certificate is different. He was actually named in honor of his great-grandfather, making Hermes Katsopolis his birth name.

This was changed at Jesse’s own request, as his mother revealed that he had been teased so much over the Hermes name in school that he couldn’t stand it anymore. So, the character might just be Hermes Katsopolis if he ever decided to revert to his birth name.

What Jobs Has He Had?

Many have noted that Full House has unrealistic financial standards, but the series did attempt to explain how Jesse made a living. In the first couple of seasons, Jesse worked as an exterminator in his father’s company, after which he worked a number of jobs.

He and Joey became employees in an advertising company before starting their own company called Double J Creative Services. Jesse hit big-time fame in Japan as a musician but returned to the U.S. later to become a radio show host of The Rush Hour Renegades with Joey. By Fuller House, he had become a music composer for General Hospital.

Who Are His Most Significant Love Interests?

Jesse can very well be compared to a Disney prince, given his charming personality. In Full House, he had a number of romances in the first season and some former flames showed up later on. But by far, his most significant was Rebecca, who he married.

All things considered, Fuller House may have failed Full House in some ways, but it did bring confirmation over where the characters turned up. One of the details given in the first episode of the spin-off was how long Jesse lived in the Tanner House.

This can be calculated based on Becky revealing they had lived together in the attic for seven years, meaning Jesse, who had lived there three years longer, actually stayed at the house for a full decade before moving out.

Which Other Sitcoms Did He Appear In?

There was an entire sitcom universe known as the TGIF lineup back in the day, with characters frequently crossing over. Jesse also showed up in one of these other shows to promote the series when he made an appearance in Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper

The episode in question had Michelle in a main role, but Jesse made a cameo at the beginning. And this wasn't his only crossover, as Family Guy had an unchronological appearance as well, where John Stamos voiced Jesse in animated form.
