Actor John Stamos addresses the possibility of a Full House reunion following the death of his former co-star Bob Saget, who unexpectedly passed away this year at age 65. The long-running sitcom totalled eight seasons and 192 episodes from 1987 to 1995, as well as the sequel series Fuller House that ran on Netflix from 2016 to 2020. The revival was canceled by Netflix after season 5 due to its viewer numbers and indifferent critical reception, despite remaining popular with the fanbase.

Full House followed the Tanner family and their various misadventures in San Francisco, becoming one of the highest-rated sitcoms of its time and only growing in popularity over the years through syndication and international airings. The cast of Full House remained close, staging multiple reunions in the years bridging the original series and Fuller House. Some cast members, Stamos included, reunited for Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute, which aired a few months after Saget's death.

When talking to E! News, Stamos reveals he's not interested in doing any more Full House in the wake of Saget's death. He explains that doing it without Saget wouldn't feel right, and the experience wouldn't be the same. He goes on to fondly recall how Saget would joke that a reboot of the series without him would feature his cremated ashes above the family's fireplace. Read his quote below:

It's just not the same without him. There's something missing, there's a piece missing. We're doing a lot of tributes. I did that Netflix tribute [June's Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute], which was beautiful, I thought. Every chance I get, I talk about him. If we're real quiet, we could hear him complaining right now that I don't talk about him enough. We'll continue to do tributes to him, but I don't know about a Full House one, though. [Saget would say that] Fullest House would be the family and me in an urn on the fireplace.

Would A Full House Reboot Work Without Bob Saget?

Though Saget's character was never at the center of the reboot Fuller House, it would still feel out of place to not feature him at all. Stamos says he and his fellow Full House cast would continue to pay tribute to the late comic, but he seems clear that a reunion featuring the characters of Full House isn't in the cards. Nevertheless, perhaps a more official reunion special featuring just the actors, in the vein of the recent Friends special, would be an appropriate way to honor Saget.

Full House got more episodes than most shows could ever dream of, and as a result remains beloved by the fans who grew up watching it. However, all things someday reach their end, and if Stamos isn't interested in doing more Full House, that's completely his decision. In the end, Saget's legacy through his work on Full House speaks for itself, and Stamos is completely right in saying it wouldn't be the same without him.
