Jodie Sweetin reveals that Michelle's sweetest scene with Jesse was supposed to go to Stephanie, but she understands since it panned out way better in Full House. Known for its realistic depiction of the highs and lows of parenting and featuring a non-traditional but loving family, Full House resonated with many. The late-'80s/early-'90s family sitcom had a renaissance in 2016 when Netflix premiered Fuller House, but the original show remained superior in every aspect, especially with the way it focused on Danny Tanner's three daughters. Although each one had their respective appeals, one particular moment from Full House had to change with Sweetin's Stephanie losing it to Michelle.

During her guesting stint on Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Sweetin reveals the iconic Full House sequence that was supposed to be hers. As it turns out, Michelle's sweetest Jesse scene where the pair says goodbye because he's moving out of the Tanner home should have featured Stephanie instead of her youngest sister. Read her full story below:

There’s an episode in Full House where Jesse and Becky are moving out of the house. You know when Jesse moved into the house he moved into Stephanie’s old bedroom with the pink bunnies. Now, the pink bunnies were supposedly hand cut by Pamela, Stephanie’s mom [and] Jesse’s sister, and placed in Stephanie’s room when she was a baby. So, those pink bunnies were [in] Stephanie’s room. [In] the episode where Jesse moves out, I believe Michelle gives Jesse the pink bunny. And I was like ‘But those are mine.’ Not like in real life but looking back now I’m like... ‘Oh, I actually know what it’s like to be a middle child.’ But it was cuter if Michelle did it…

Why Michelle Got The Full House Scene Instead of Stephanie

While DJ was similar to Danny in many ways. In fact, this was the reason for Fuller House's premise as it highlights the parallel between the pair. Jesse was particularly close to Michelle instead. They were always partnered up in Full House and considering John Stamos' ability to connect to babies and toddlers, it worked for the best. So, aside from the fact that it was cuter to see Michelle have that interaction with Uncle Jesse, as Sweetin said, it also made sense considering the family sitcom's overall dynamic as it made the scene more emotional. Granted that Jesse and Stephanie have had their own adventures, but he wasn't nearly as close to him as Michelle.

This all changed in Fuller House, however, as Stephanie and Jesse's respective arcs start to mirror each other. Both were musicians at heart, not to mention cool uncle/aunt to their respective nieces and nephews until they became parents themselves. Several times in the Netflix Full House spin-off, Jesse would offer Stephanie advice on how to move forward with her life, especially when she was having issues deciding what path she wanted to take. The ultimate proof of how close they have become in Fuller House was when Jesse walked Stephanie down the aisle instead of her own dad, Danny. It's curious, however, how things would be different had Michelle appeared in Fuller House.

Since Fuller House's run was cut short, it wasn't able to further delve into Jesse and Stephanie's relationship. The Netflix spin-off could have tackled how their dynamic would change now that Stephanie has her own family, with another kid on the way. Sadly, much of the Full House sequel's focus was on DJ, since her story mirrored Danny's.
