While Frozen 2 may seem to neatly conclude all its plot lines, there are many possibilities and theories regarding where the story of Frozen 3 will go. At the end of Frozen 2, Anna realizes she has to destroy the dam in order to restore peace in Arendelle. At the same time, that releases Elsa who rides the water spirit to Arendelle where she manages to freeze the flood and save the kingdom. After reuniting with Anna and Olaf, she explains that she and Anna are the bridge between the people and the magical people. This seemingly tied up the sisters' story, leaving Frozen with an uncertain future.

The lives of the two sisters also change throughout the Frozen franchise. At the end of Frozen 2, Anna accepts Kristoff's marriage proposal and becomes Queen as Elsa chooses to remain as the protector of the forest and the two separate. Given the end of the film, which gives the audience to learn more about Elsa's powers in Frozen 2, it is not exactly obvious where things will pick up from in its follow-up sequel Frozen 3 now that peace is restored in Arendelle and the balance between the people of Arendelle and the enchanted forest is now stable. Here are seven possible theories around what Frozen 3's story could be.

7 Frozen 3 Will See The Return Of Prince Hans

Hans meets Elsa in Frozen

One of the most popular theories regarding Frozen 3 is about none other than Prince Hans. Hans is introduced in the first installment of Frozen as the villain of the story. He is a prince of the Southern Isles and comes from a very big family, of which he is the last son. As such, he is convinced that the only way for him to become Prince of a country is through marriage. Ultimately, this is the reason why he comes up with a plan to marry Anna and get rid of Elsa. Logically, now that Anna is Queen of Arendelle, Hans might make a comeback in Frozen 3.

6 Frozen 3 Will Reveal Anna's Powers

Anna in Frozen

Anna's Frozen 3 story may take priority over Elsa's, as the third installment of the series could finally center her in the narrative. As one of the two protagonists of the Frozen series, the big question around Anna has perhaps always been about her lack of powers. In fact, Frozen focused on Elsa's learning how to use her powers for good and Frozen 2 considered the question of why Elsa has magical powers at home. This made Anna's lack of powers even more evident. As such, it may be finally time for Anna to have her own powers, which some have theorized may revolve around fire as opposed to Elsa's ice.

5 Frozen 3 Will Include Anna & Kristoff's Children

Frozen 2 ended with Anna and Kristoff getting engaged. While their marriage has not been shown yet, one key theory revolves around Anna and Kristoff's children. If Frozen 3 decides to set its story in the future with a possible time jump in Frozen 3, showcasing a new generation would be an interesting way to go back into the story. Moreover, a plot line involving Anna and Kristoff's children would be interesting as they might inherit some sort of power either through being related to Elsa or because Anna herself sacrificed herself for the peace of the forest and Arendelle.

Similarly, Frozen 3 may also choose to include the royal wedding if it doesn't go towards the time jump route. This would be significant as it would give a reason for Hans to come back as a villain if he wants to stop Anna and Kristoff's wedding in order to gain control over Arendelle once again. Equally, having a royal wedding in Frozen 3 would also be a callback to Frozen as the first film of the series opened with another royal ceremony, Elsa's coronation. It would also center Kristoff more, finally doing him justice in the Frozen franchise.

4 Frozen 3 Will Focus On Anna As The Queen

Most notably, Frozen 3 ended with Anna becoming Queen of Arendelle. As the youngest sibling, it was not predictable that Anna would become Queen of the kingdom, a role that was instead always envisioned for Elsa, as proven by her coronation ceremony in the first Frozen film. However, the self-sacrificing Anna seems to have many positive traits to be a good Queen. In particular, this is something that would be interesting to explore in Frozen 3 if the conflict of the movie were to be around a war with a neighboring kingdom.

3 Frozen 3 Will Include A Romance For Elsa

As many have been speculating, including actor Idina Menzel herself, Elsa may finally get her love interest in the third installment of the series. Anna's romance was as the heart of Frozen and, similarly, greatly influenced Kristoff's plot in Frozen 2. If Frozen 3 wants to explore Elsa's romance, it would be the perfect chance to make Elsa's LGBT identity canon, perhaps by finding her romantic interest in a Frozen 2 character, Honeymaren, one of the residents of the enchanted forest. This would be important as Elsa did not have a romantic interest in either of the two installments of the Frozen series.

2 Frozen 3 Will Be A Prequel

Another possibility for Frozen 3 remains that of a prequel. While the story of Elsa and Anna's parents was explored in Frozen 2, there are still various elements a possible prequel could explore in order to delve deeper into the connection between the royal family of Arendelle and magic and, thus, their relationship with the enchanted forest. Moreover, if Frozen 3 focuses on a prequel, it could go further back to examine a time in Arendelle before Elsa and Anna's parents and perhaps explore the question of magic in relation to the enchanted forest and the trolls.

1 Frozen 3 Will Explore Kristoff's Backstory

Kristoff became more of a key character but in Frozen Kristoff's backstory is never really explored. Much of his storyline is relegated to being Anna's love interest. As such, exploring Kristoff's backstory would be particularly interesting as not much is known about his childhood or his life before he met Anna. As such, it would be interesting to see how he met Sven and how their bond was ultimately formed. Moreover, Frozen 3 could further explore Kristoff's relationship with the trolls as he was an orphan who was adopted by one of the trolls when he was eight years old.
