The official Frozen 2 movie teaser trailer offers fans a first look at the animated sequel to Walt Disney Animation's massively successful 2013 hit movie. Disney released Frozen, a reimagining of Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen, and found massive success. The film introduced two princesses from the fictional land of Arendelle, Anna (Kristen Bell) and her older sister Elsa (Idina Menzel). However, when Elsa accidentally forces Arendelle into an eternal winter with the magical powers she never learned to fully control, Anna ventures after her fleeing sister in order to save both the kingdom and their relationship. Frozen was a huge success both with critics and casual moviegoers as well as at the box office, grossing over $1 billion.

As a result, it should come as no surprise that Disney teased Frozen 2 not long after the first film was released, with the official confirmation of the Frozen sequel arriving in 2015. However, with a release date for Frozen 2 slated for late 2019, fans will have waited six years between movies. Of course, Disney released short films in the universe, including Frozen Fever in 2015 and Olaf's Frozen Adventure in 2017. However, Olaf's Frozen Adventure caused controversy when it screened in front of Coco. Now, fans are eagerly looking forward to the debut of Frozen 2, and with the release of the first teaser trailer they'll get their first glimpse at the sequel.

The teaser trailer and images don't give away too much about the plot of Frozen 2, though whatever is going on in Arendelle has sent the older Anna and Elsa - and their trusty friends Olaf and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), along with his reindeer Sven - on an adventure. In the trailer and images we see Elsa traversing the sea, Anna scaling a mountain, and the entire group traveling across a fjord. What sends them on this mission is still unclear, but perhaps it has something to do with the impending winter - the trailer makes it clear Frozen 2 takes place in the autumn, after all.

While the Frozen 2 teaser trailer may not reveal too much about the story, it does effectively get fans hyped for the return to this world. Anna and Elsa became household names after Frozen given the first film's success, and fans young and old are no doubt looking forward to seeing what adventure is ahead for the two. Plus, with the return of Kristoff, Olaf and Sven, Frozen 2 will truly reunite the whole main group from the first movie. And with plenty of action and adventure being the focus of this teaser trailer, it's clear the Frozen sequel is pulling no punches in terms of raising the stakes. Of course, whether Frozen 2 is as much of a success as the first film remains to be seen - and it will be a difficult task considering the high bar set by Frozen - but fans will get a chance to see the sequel for themselves later this year.
