There's no denying the fact that Phoebe Buffay is easily the most puzzling Friends character. Throughout the series, Phoebe has shared plenty of details about her life but there are still many things that remain a mystery.

For instance, why are she and Ursula on such bad terms? Why didn't she ever get together with Joey? Who's Denise? Keep reading to find out the 10 things we never understood about Phoebe Buffay.

Her Sister

Phoebe doesn't mention Ursula very often, but when she does, she has nothing good to say about her. The falling out between these two was never fully explained to viewers and it seems out of character for Phoebe to not want to mend the relationship.

Phoebe has always gone out of her way to have relationships with the few family members that she has left, so why not Ursula?

Her Birth Mother

Phoebe first met her birth mother at the end of season three and the two began to build a relationship. However, Phoebe Abbott was only seen in three episodes total throughout the series, which was pretty confusing for fans.

Knowing Phoebe, she would have been ecstatic to have her mother in her life, so it's odd that viewers didn't see much of her at all - she wasn't even at Phoebe's wedding.

Her Roommate

The identity of Phoebe's roommate has been puzzling fans for years. In season six, Phoebe claimed to have a roommate named Denise that viewers had never seen before. In fact, up until this moment, Phoebe had never mentioned having a roommate at all.

This was an odd revelation for fans, considering Phoebe had previously confirmed that she lived alone. It's very possible that Phoebe simply lied and Denise never existed.

Her Dating Choices

Phoebe calls Rachel and sets her up on a bad date

There's no doubt that Phoebe's a great catch. Throughout the series, she dated her fair share of men but not all of them were deserving of her.

One thing's for sure - Phoebe has a lot of love for Joey, so why didn't they ever give things a shot? They had great chemistry and would have been great together. Out of all of the relationships in the series, these two just make the most sense.

Her Wedding

Regardless of the blizzard, Phoebe's wedding day was perfect. This impromptu, outdoor wedding was very true to Phoebe's character and it ended up being incredibly romantic.

The only problem was that none of Phoebe's family were in attendance. It's possible that they were absent due to the weather conditions, but it's a shame that they couldn't be there on Phoebe's special day.

Kissing Ross

If there's one thing fans know about Phoebe, it's that she is no way, shape or form, attracted to Ross Geller. She's always found him pretentious and thinks his dinosaur-talk is extremely boring.

That's why it made no sense when these two suddenly started kissing in "The One with the Flashback". Luckily, they got interrupted so things didn't go any further than a kiss, but it was still an extremely surprising moment.

Dating Her Sister's Stalker

Even though Phoebe can be a bit eccentric at times, she's still pretty level headed and she never puts up with unwanted nonsense. This is exactly why fans were so caught off guard when she started dating her sister's stalker.

For some unknown reason, she found his obsessive ways flattering and endearing. Phoebe's been around the block a few times and definitely knows better than to encourage this kind of scary behavior.

Dating Her Sister's Ex

Phoebe and Ursula are complete opposites, so it was wild to see both of them attracted to the same guy. In "The One With The Halloween Party", fans saw Ursula's boyfriend accidentally mistake Phoebe for Ursula.

One thing led to another and Phoebe and Eric found themselves attracted to one another. Their relationship was short-lived but it was still strange to see Phoebe interested in someone that was formerly with her sister.

Having Her Brother's Babies

Carrying Frank and Alice's triplets was definitely the most selfless thing that Phoebe ever did. However, as kindhearted as it was, it was still pretty out of character for her.

Phoebe wasn't very supportive of Frank and Alice's relationship at first, but she slowly warmed up to the idea of them getting married. Getting married is one thing, but having children is another huge commitment that we just didn't see Phoebe getting on board with - let alone agreeing to carry their children for them.

Wanting To Keep A Baby

This is another occasion where fans were forced to question Phoebe's level of practicality. In the episode "The One Hundredth," Phoebe shared with Rachel that she wanted to keep one of the triplets. At first glance, this seemed like a classic Phoebe-joke, but viewers soon learned that she truly hoped to keep one of Frank and Alice's babies.

While this could all be chalked up to pregnancy hormones and whatever medicine Phoebe may have been on at the time, it was still a strange storyline.
