Friends has had a rather colorful assemblage of characters, from a feisty spiritually-rich masseuse to a boorish, mansplaining paleontologist and... Chandler, the show has given its fans generations worth of laughs and wholesomeness. And Halloween held a special place on Friends and who could forget those fabulous costumes - seriously, remember Space Doody?

But what Halloween candies would the characters match, depending on their personality? Would Monica be the moderately popular Hershey's bar, or would she be Skittles? Here’s a fun list matching Friends character to Halloween candies because it’s that time of the year again.

Joey: Snickers

Joey is the human version of the widely loved Snickers bar, which is perhaps the most wholesome Halloween candy. It’s rich, it’s familiar, it’s indulgent and most importantly, it’s loved by all, except of course, by those who are allergic to nuts. Joey is exactly as versatile as the good ol’ Snickers, as he can fit into any social group. There’s something very hearty about both Joey and Snickers, that’s associated with good moments. Snickers has all the best components of every major food group, namely nuts, caramel, nougat, and chocolate, and Joey too possesses the choicest elements that make him an impeccably reliable friend.

Chandler: Twix

The best thing about this crunchy candy is how it plays around with the idea of sweetness and is actually quite comforting without being too sugary, and that’s exactly what Chandler is. No matter how funny he gets, his brand of humor always had a sense of intricacy and sadness, which made him so interesting.

Not to mention both Chandler and a Twix bar are incredibly layered and balanced. Chandler was kind of the underdog of the group, similarly, Twix is the dark horse of Halloween candies - it’s probably not someone’s first preference but when there are no more candies left, anyone is glad to discover a Twix at the bottom of the bag.

Rachel: Twizzler

First things first, Twizzler is obviously the best looking and most sophisticated Halloween candy and if Rachel was in fact, a candy, she’d no doubt be a Twizzler. But most importantly, there’s a lot more to Twizzler than its superficial strawberry saccharine-ness that one can only understand if they eat it, it’s quite complex when it comes to taste and texture. Similarly, Rachel may come across as somewhat shallow, or spoilt upon first impression, but it is only when people meet her and learn about her surprising journey to self-fulfillment, that they begin to understand her in a more comprehensive way.

Monica: KitKat

There’s a reason why ‘fat Monica’ from the flashbacks was obsessed with KitKat, and that’s because Monica is just as reliable and agreeable as the widely loved wafer-based candy.

Monica has always been the glue of her friends group, someone who was always there no matter what the crisis, be it Rachel’s bad date, or helping Joey with his fake penis. KitKat is also the go-to candy for almost any situation, from Halloween to a goodie bag, one can never really go wrong with a KitKat, no matter what the occasion.

Ross: Sour Patch Kids

Sour Patch Kids are not for everyone, and they need time to grow on one’s tastes. Ross, the bore of the group could be a lot to get used to, especially because he may just invite someone to his paleontology lecture for a first date. Sour Patch Kids are made of a very intense sweet and sour coating,  it’s not everyone’s flavor and could end up disappointing some kids if it lands up in their trick or treat bag. However, once you get used to its profile, it could just end up being your go-to candy, much like Ross who has proven to be a valuable friend many times.

Phoebe: Candy Corn

Candy Corn Phoebe Halloween Friends

This comparison is probably self-explanatory, Phoebe is just as colorful, zesty, and refreshing as the Halloween staple candy corn. Phoebe is one of the most unique characters sitcom culture has come across and fans have even lamented that the show never explored the full potential of her character arc, at times limiting her as the kooky hippie who can’t be taken seriously.

And Candy Corn, too, is almost always taken for granted or gets lost in the crowd of fancily wrapped sugary chocolates. Plus, the basic components of candy corn are vegan-friendly and Phoebe would no doubt, appreciate the coincidence.

Richard: Butterfinger

No one could think that a candy made out of peanut butter and chocolate could be so nuanced and posh, but Butterfingers is basically peanut butter cups for adults. The reason Richard was such a fan favorite is because he is not just smooth, good looking, and grounded but also transparent, so you know what you’re getting, just like the thin toffee bar. Much like the hassle-free Butterfingers Richard is also somewhat layered but is actually not as complex as it looks, and is surprisingly wholesome and reliable.

Emily: Blow Pops

Fans initially sympathized with Emily because Ross did mess up big time when he said the wrong name during his wedding. But over time the fandom realized that Emily is not just a scorned wife but also a really vengeful and petty person, who doesn’t really care about Ross’s priorities and quite simply wants to settle some scores.

This makes her very similar to the rather unpopular Halloween candy Blow Pops which may seem adorable but in reality, neither the bubble gum center nor the hard candy shell is appealing in taste, and together they are quite disastrous.

Almond Joy: Gunther

Almond Joy has often been ranked as the least favorite Halloween candy, especially by millennials (which is shocking because this generation really does love almonds). But most people agree that it is the combination of almond and shredded coconut that makes the candy rather unappealing. Gunther may very well be the Almond Joy on Friends, he was always overlooked and though the gang met at his cafe for years, they never even made decent small talk with him. Not only do fans feel about his unreciprocated feelings for Rachel, but also because he was almost invisible to them.

Mike: Peanut Butter Cups

Anyone would agree that scoring the most number of peanut butter cups is basically the point of trick or treating. The molded chocolate cups filled with peanut butter is the king of Halloween candies and is loved by all. On Friends, Phoebe’s boyfriend-turned-husband Mike can be compared to this widely popular candy because he’s not just loved by the fandom but the fans unanimously agree that he is one of the best characters on the show. Not only does he see Phoebe for all that she is but he is also brave enough to stand up for her and actually works hard for their relationship and complements Phoebe’s flighty personality really well.
