Jennifer Aniston recently revealed how she coped with the ending of Friends, and it's wild that the show is still attracting so much attention, even decades later. But Friends is among the most iconic sitcoms ever, with popular catchphrases and quotes — "Pivot!" — part of fans' everyday vocabulary.

Redditors have taken their picks on which quotes they’ve loved the most, ranging from funny ones like Joey and Phoebe’s tendency to create a comedy of errors, to heartwarming ones such as Rachel’s words to Ross when they got back together.

When Joey Mocked Chandler

"Could I Be Wearing Any More Clothes?"

Joey proves he's the best friend with his quotes and loyalty to the rest. However, his argument with Chandler over a chair they wanted to sit on brought out his snarky side. Redditor EliseMcg believes the line “Could I BE wearing any more clothes?” is the best.

Joey wore all of Chandler’s clothes to get back at him for sitting in his chair — he then imitated Chandler’s sarcasm to great comedic effect. The sight of Joey wearing layers of clothing and his impression of Chandler remains one of the highlights in Friends’ list of gags.

Phoebe Realizes What Her Nickname Is

"That's Short For Phoebe? I Thought That's Just What We Called Each Other."

Phoebe holds Rachel's head at Monica's in Friends

Phoebe consistently ranks among the best Friends characters for her kooky personality. Redditor jasonleescot points out the time Phoebe realized what her nickname is as the show’s best quote. Here, Phoebe comforted Rachel by calling her “Pheebs,” not knowing the designated nickname was exclusively for her.

Upon Rachel pointing it out, a confused Phoebe confessed she thought “Pheebs” is what she thought the group just called each other. It’s funnier considering that this exchange took place in season 4, meaning Phoebe had thought the nickname applied to everyone for years.

Monica's Catchphrase

"I Know!"

Monica smiles at Phoebe in Friends

Redditor Esquire2010 has taken the simple route by claiming Monica’s "I KNOW!” is their favorite quote. All the Friends characters have certain catchphrases, with Monica’s excited exclamation popping up more frequently than others.

Monica would usually say it out loud when one of her friends said something to compliment her, to which she showed no modesty and happily accepted the kind. On other occasions, Monica’s type-A attitude had her shout this quote, much to the hilarious annoyance of everyone around her.

Joey's Flawless Logic

"It's Moo Point. Like A Cow's Opinion. It Just Doesn't Matter...It's Moo."

Joey tells Rachel about the Moo point in Friends

There have many times that Joey proved to be the funniest Friends character, with much of his humor coming from how dim he could be. Redditor fuue claims that Joey’s “It’s moo” is the show’s most memorable quote, which was uttered during a scene where he confused “moot point” with “moo point.”

Joey believed that a “moo point” is when a person’s opinion doesn’t matter because it’s the same as something a cow would say — nobody cares since it’s a cow’s opinion. Funnily enough, Rachel actually saw Joey’s point and argued that he made a lot of sense when something was seen from his perspective.

When Ross Became Obsessed With Fajitas

"My Fajitas!"

Ross holding Fajitas in Friends

Ross’ reaction to learning about Rachel and Joey’s new relationship remains an enduring source of comedy for how he went off the rails. Redditor RVelts writes that “My fajitas!” is among Friends’ very best quotes, with those two words instantly recognizable to fans.

Ross threw out this exclamation when he heard the timer for his fajitas go off, which capped off a number of over-the-top freak-outs he’d been having that night. The drunk Ross didn’t realize he didn’t have any oven mitts on when he brought the hot plate out, casually claiming that it would hurt the next day.

Joey Tries To Act Young

"Sup With The Whack Playstation, 'Sup?"

Redditor sofranniwaslike writes “Playstation is whack!” as a reference to Joey’s performance as a teenager. Joey was already 31 years old when he wanted to play the role of a teen, and after his friends didn’t him convincing, Joey tried to act like a teenager to prove them wrong.

Joey was more than out of touch with how teenagers behave, putting on a dry attitude and claiming that playing PlayStation was “whack.” He went overboard by doling out numerous forms of slang that didn’t do anything other than invite Chandler's mockery.

Ross' Infamous Pivot Rant

"Pivot! Pivot!"

Ross carrying a couch up the stairs in Friends

Redditor bostoncommons6 has pointed toward Ross’ “Pivot!” as their favorite quote, writing it’s “Best used when slightly adjusting or moving any object.” The moment in question came when Ross instructed Chandler and Rachel to move his new couch, yelling about pivoting it multiple times to no effect.

It’s become one of Friends’ most popular scenes due to Ross’ increasing screams for Chandler and Rachel to pivot. It was also discussed during the cast’s reunion special, proving just how big the scene and quotes have become over the many years it has been rewatched by fans.

When Chandler Praised Himself

"Checkin' Out The Chan Chan Man!"

Chandler talking to Joanna at Bloomingdale's in Friends.

Chandler had the lowest self-esteem of all the main characters but got indignant when a woman did show interest in him. Redditor TheAdderallAdmiral thinks his claim of being the “Chan Chan Man” is worth remembering for the way Chandler said it with such gusto.

In the scene, Rachel informed Chandler of her boss Joanna’s interest in him, in response to which Chandler went off on his own tangent. The “Chan Chan Man” has become one of Chandler’s nicknames for Friends fans even though it was repeated on the show only a few times after this scene.

Chandler's Go-To Comment

"I'm Not So Good With The Advice. Can I Interest You In A Sarcastic Comment?"

Chandler tells Rachel he is not good at advice in Friends

There are several times when Chandler had many sarcastic one-liners in Friends, so much that even he was aware of his own trademark. Redditor Estre loved it when Chandler offered Rachel a sarcastic comment instead of the advice she was looking for.

Chandler proved his own point when he then sarcastically offered Rachel the cheese he was holding. In later seasons, Chandler openly repeated his preference for sarcasm instead of advice, claiming that he always messed things up when he tried to help someone.

When Rachel Returned To Ross

"I Got Off The Plane."

Rachel gets off the plane and goes to Ross' apartment in Friends

Redditor zoestopper has chosen a heartwarming quote over a funny one, mentioning Rachel’s “I got off the plane.” It was one of the final quotes in Friends overall, as Ross and Rachel got back together when she got off a plane bound for Paris to reunite with him.

The scene made it appear as if Rachel’s voicemail to Ross was in vain and she was forced to leave for Paris, only for Rachel to appear in the doorway and reveal she successfully disembarked. Not everyone would have pegged this simple line to be so momentous but that’s exactly how this Friends fans see it.
