By the end of Friends, there are three major romantic relationships - Ross and Rachel, Monica and Chandler, and Phoebe and Mike. And of these three, Phoebe and Mike are, by far, the cutest. They are also the most straightforward because aside from their brief breakup, they pretty much go from first date through to a committed relationship without too much drama.

In fact, from the first episode that they connect, it's clear that these two are just meant to be together, and fans were devastated when it looked like the marriage question might split them up. In the end, thankfully, they realize that they are soulmates - but any of these moments would also prove it.

The One With The Pediatrician (S9, E3)

Phoebe and Mike at Central Perk in Friends.

Phoebe and Mike don't exactly have a traditional meet-cute, as Joey sets them up after completely forgetting he had promised to find Phoebe a date... and meets Mike by just standing in the coffeehouse and shouting out 'Hey Mike'! Despite this inauspicious beginning (and Phoebe's anger with Joey over it), Mike ends up coming back to Phoebe to ask her to go out again - and it's his moment of 'piano playing' without a piano, but will gusto, that cements their relationship from the start. Obviously, a man who would do this in public is perfect for Phoebe.

The One With The Sharks (S9, E4)

Mike Hannigan and Phoebe Buffay in Friends

The focus of this episode is actually Monica and Chandler, as Monica becomes accidentally convinced that Chandler has a shark fetish - and it's as hilarious as it sounds. At the same time, though, Phoebe is trying to go out with Mike, and Ross keeps messing things up for her.

Despite the fact that Ross's comments have Phoebe in tears on a second date, though, Mike isn't scared off - instead, he is kind, understanding, and able to look past her friend to see how amazing Phoebe herself is.

The One With Ross' Inappropriate Song (S9, E07)

Phoebe meets Mike's parents

While Ross and Rachel are singing inappropriate songs to their baby, Phoebe is meeting Mike's super-rich parents... and while it couldn't have gone worse, it was incredible for Phoebe and Mike themselves. Phoebe tries so hard to fit in with them, and to be the perfect girlfriend, but of course, her quirky self comes out in the end - and Mike stands up to his parents to say that actually, he loves her, and he doesn't care what anyone else thinks. Between her willingness to try so hard in order to help the relationship, and his willingness to put her first, it's clear they are meant to be.

The One With Rachel's Phone Number (S9, E9)

Mike hanging out at Ross's place

In this episode, Mike proves that he is so in love with Phoebe that he is willing to make a fool of himself in front of her friends to help her out. First, he and Ross are trying to connect, as they realize that they never really spend any quality time together (understandably enough, as it becomes immediately clear that they have absolutely nothing in common). They quickly decide to call it a night, until Phoebe asks Mike to help Rachel screen calls at Ross's house, when she gives a cute guy her number - and Mike does it. He goes back into a boring situation, to sit and make a fool of himself answering someone else's phone, just to help her out.

The One With Phoebe's Rats (S9, E12)

Mike and Phoebe get rid of the rat babies in Friends

Phoebe is a quirky character, and it's something that many partners would find hard to deal with - but Mike strikes the perfect balance of grounding her and still supporting her in her uniqueness in this episode... when they end up trying to raise a box of baby rats. It's amazing that he can walk that line so perfectly, not judging her for the desire to raise rat-babies, but also being able to know where to draw the line and tell her it's time to let them go.

The One With The Memorial Service (S9, E17)

phoebe mike friends

In this episode, Phoebe and Mike are technically broken up - and it's devastating for both of them. But after they realized that they wanted different things (Phoebe wants to get married, Mike doesn't), they decided it was for the best.

However, here it becomes clear that they just can't keep apart, and Mike's speech about if he'd known the last time he kissed her would be the last time... it's just beautiful.

The One In Barbados (S9, E23/34)

Mike and Phoebe get back together in in Friends

Phoebe and Mike manage to stay apart for a while, but it was never going to last - they are just too perfect for each other! When Phoebe and the gang are in Barbados, she's with David, and things seem like they might just be perfect... but Mike actually flies to Barbados to tell her that he can't imagine life without her, and that he would marry her, because his reasons for not wanting to get married are nothing compared to the idea of not being together. It's a heartbreaking moment for David fans, but Phoebe takes him back, and it's clear this is what is meant to be.

The One Where Rachel's Sister Baby-Sits (S10, E5)

Mike proposes to Phoebe in Friends

Mike actually proposes (or almost proposes) to Phoebe three times, and she proposes to him once - and if that does prove that they will do anything to be together forever, nothing will. The first time is in Barbados, when Phoebe turns him down because she just needed to know it was in their future. The next three proposals are in this episode, where they struggle to find the 'right' way - and end up with a happy, unique, and perfect engagement that suits them.

The One With Phoebe's Wedding (S10, E12)

Joey marries Mike and Phoebe in Friends

Obviously, their wedding is a perfect example of why they are meant to be together - not least because Mike knows what the English meaning of 'lorkins' is likely to be. But start to finish, this episode shows them overcoming all the frustrations and cancelations that come with a wedding being derailed by a blizzard, it shows them as true partners, and as two people so completely in love that literally nothing - not even the worst blizzard of the year - can stop them getting married.

The One With Princess Consuela (s10, E14)

Phoebe introduces her husband in Friends

One of their final finest moments actually comes after their wedding - when it's proven that they are able to support each other no matter what, that they are able to call each other out where needs be, and that they will always have a sense of humor about it, too. This all comes up when Phoebe is changing her name after the wedding, and decides on a whim to make it 'Princess Consuela Banana-Hammock' - and Mike manages to make her see how ridiculous that is by changing his, too. To 'Crap-Bag'. It's hilarious, it's a unique way of calling out a spouse, and it's gently funny and loving at the same time.
