Joey Tribianni changed a lot from the pilot. Not for better, but for worse. The character wasn't developed sufficiently for a 34-year-old. His brain was the size of a peanut, he preyed on women. He believed Estelle called on his cellphone from above, he spoke gibberish for French.

Everyone had moved onto bigger and better things in life, except for Joey Tribianni. His priorities, passions, and mannerism worsened from the pilot in ways described below.

The Time He Said He Wanted Girls On Bread

When it came to choosing between food and sex, Joey cranked it up a notch. All other gang members either picked food, or they picked sex. Joey said he wanted girls on bread. It wasn't the first time Joey tried to commodify women.

Back when Ross got divorced from Carol, Joey suggested women were as readily available as ice creams. He compared women to ice cream flavors such as rocky road, cookie dough, and cherry vanilla.

Slandered The Women He Fooled Around With

Joey didn't think twice before slandering women. Almost all of the time, these were the same women he slept with and forgot to call. He said Shanon Cooper couldn't be invited to Rachel's birthday party because she stole things.

So that's two misdoings in a row--treat a woman horribly and have her blackballed for the rest of her life. Joey was always with women for personal benefits. Women added layers to his insecure and foolish self underneath.

Stayed For The Food

Joey always chose food over everything else-- emergencies, car backfires, birthdays. These situations were different from the events of mundane life. Joey saved his sandwich over his best friends, Chandler and Ross in a car-backfire. The boys were in a ride-along with Phoebe's cop boyfriend when they mistook backfire for a gunshot.

Ross's reception was a tense affair, he'd said the wrong name at the altar. Emily refused to attend the reception. Meanwhile, Joey cared for the cake. On Emma's first birthday, according to Joey, the Phallic cake was better suited for the occasion

Hypocrite

Let's get this straight-- it was okay for Joey to have complicated romantic affairs with women and mistreat them But it wasn't okay for his father Joseph Tribbiani Sr. to be in a more mature relationship with Connie. There's a world of difference between Joey's string of sexual relationships and his father's affair with the pet mortician.

It gets weirder when Joey's mother says she consents to Joseph and Connie's extra-marital affair. Joey couldn't come to terms with the situation. The same hypocrisy is reflected when Joey's sister Dina announces she is pregnant. Because it's his sister in trouble, his reaction is wildly different.

Joey Doesn't Share Food

Joey tells Rachel & Phoebe he doesn't share food

Joey had a borderline personality disorder, in that he didn't share his food. Were baby Emma and his date, Sarah entitled to his share of the food? No. But here's the odd thing-- Earlier Joey would treat his women well on dates. He'd order a plate of extra wings for Angela, red zinfandel for Lorraine.

By the end of Friends, Joey was stealing food off his dates' plates. To top it all, it looked like he'd go on a date just to eat. There's nothing wrong with eating your fill, just don't do it on a date. Pick your occasion, Joey.

Worst Case Of Mooching

Joey mooched off of Chandler for three straight years. But the worst case of mooching occurs when Joey's fridge breaks down. He doesn't have any money to pay for its repair, so he eats everything out of his fridge. He then proceeds to demand $400 from Chandler.

When Chandler refuses to pay him, Joey slams Ross into his fridge. He then blames Ross for breaking his fridge, asks him for $400 for the same. As a moocher, Joey had no shame, no sense of responsibility and no self-respect either.

'Sup With The Whack Playstation?

Joey planned to go to a commercial audition that required a 19-year-old for the part. It's unfathomable how a professional actor could even think he would be selected for part 12 years younger to him. Joey acted and dressed like a teenager.

His best friends were engaged, and here he was trying to act ridiculous. Sure, the scene garnered laughs from the audiences. But imagine for a second what it did to the character development of Joey. He was turned into a manchild.

Frantic Search For The Hot Girl

Let's call a spade a spade-- Joey was a creep. He freakishly searched for the hot girl in Ross's building. He screamed in the hallways looking for a hot girl. It proves that Joey looked nothing beyond looks in a woman.

Joey risked his friendship with Phoebe over Ursula simply because he found her hot. Joey let Janine into his apartment without interviewing her because he thought she was hot. The more Joey aged, the more unrealistic it became for him to predate on good looking women.

Change Of Attitude After DOOL 2.0

Once Joey was brought back to The Days of Our Lives, it started to affect his personality. For years, Joey had invited his friends to horrible plays such as Freud! or Boxing Day. But when it came to hosting a soap opera party on his roof, he was suddenly embarrassed by the same friends. He bought them tickets to a one-woman play because he couldn't afford to be humiliated by his friends. Joey proudly boasted to get rid of his friends for three years in a row.

It hurt to see Joey's best friend Chandler attend the painful play for two hours. This man had single-handedly bankrolled Joey's acting career for years. Chandler deserved better.

Lack Of Accountability

The lack of accountability is not unknown to narcissists. They rely on blame-shifting and manipulation to take away the attention from them. When Laura confronted Joey about forgetting to call him the next day, he shifted the blame onto her. Joey hid from Ginger at Central Perk for he had thrown her wooden leg in a fire. He cheated on Kathy with another woman. But suddenly it wasn't okay for Kathy to do the same?

The lack of accountability is seen on other fronts as well. Joey denied paying Chandler for three years of rent, utilities, and other stuff. He ate out of Monica's fridge for more than a decade. It's time audiences acknowledge Joey was an inconsistent and dysfunctional character.
