With twelve entries under the Friday The 13th series, spanning from 1980 to 2009, audiences have almost had four more. Critics were never that fond of the franchise but fans kept it alive but that didn't stop the cancelation of different movies featuring Jason Voorhees.

The franchise has since ceased due to many legal issues with it. Due to these legal issues, other attempts to relaunch Friday The 13th were also shut down. Over the decades, some never made it past development stages while others were close to production

Millennium Massacre

The number of attempts to create a crossover of Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees is astounding. One of these attempts was called Millennium Massacre. According to NightmareOnStreetFilms.com, it would have played on the paranoia of the apocalypse happening in the year 2000 that was popular in the 90s.

It would have featured a Freddy Krueger cult and featured a retcon that explained that Freddy was a counselor at Camp Crystal Lake who molested Jason then tried to drown him. It would have given Jason motivation to hate Freddy; this idea was twisted into something else in the actual Freddy Vs. Jason.

Friday The 13th: Camp Blood

Over the years, the 2009 reboot has gained a cult following as one of the better and underrated Friday The 13th films. It was a box office success so there were plans for a sequel but sadly, it was canceled due to the aforementioned legal issues.

In a series of tweets, the writers expanded on their ideas for a sequel as reported by ComicBook.com. These included flashbacks to Jason's childhood and showing the darkness of Pamela Voorhees. It would have taken place in the snow and would have brought in a rebooted version of Tommy Jarvis.

Jason Goes To Court

The 90s were a strange time for Freddy and Jason as slasher movies were embracing a more comedic tone than ever before. According to FlickeringMyth, there was almost a movie that would have had Jason Voorhees put on trial for all of his crimes with Freddy Krueger trying to use Jason as a means to enter the real world.

It's as bizarre as it sounds and apparently, there would have been a cameo of the famous Pinhead from the Hellraiser franchise. The idea of Jason in court did make its way into the cartoonish puzzle game Friday The 13th: Killer Puzzle as a quick gag.

Nightmare 13: Freddy Meets Jason

Some ideas for the crossover sounded like fun but this is one that some fans are happy did not see the light of day. It too would have used the idea that Freddy was behind Jason's drowning which is a neat twist that would have been dark and disturbing.

However, that script by Lewis Abernathy would get rewritten by two new writers. According to Wicked Horror, the battle between Freddy and Jason would have taken place in hell. The two slashers would battle in a boxing ring made of entrails with Ted Bundy and Adolf Hitler as bystanders. Even for these two franchises, that is far too silly.

Another Friday The 13th Reboot

Enough time seemed to pass that instead of a sequel to the 2009 reboot, Paramount decided to start working on another reboot. No information about the plot or who would be playing the iconic Jason Voorhees, not even who would be writing the screenplay.

It was a mystery film that was announced in 2013 and sought a 2015 release. Since the 2009 reboot is still the latest movie, it did not seem to pan out.

80s Friday The 13th Reboot

The idea of a reboot was attempted again and according to FridayThe13thFranchise.com, this would have followed the trend of returning to 80s horror. With the director of V/H/S and the writer of Hannibal, it would have been a more traditional Friday The 13th film set in the 80s with the twist of a coming-of-age story.

Going back to basics seems like a smart way to revitalized the dormant franchise but sadly, this did not pan out either. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the flop of Paramount's horror sequel Rings led to the unfair shutdown of Friday The 13th.

Alternate Friday The 13th Part III

Even when the early days, Friday The 13th sequel ideas were scrapped. One of them, as reported by HorrorGeekLife, would have brought back Ginny from Friday The 13th Part II as she deals with the trauma of those events. In a psychiatric hospital, Ginny would have been stalked by Jason trying to finish what he had started.

Considering Ginny was such a great final girl, it would have been interesting to see her return. However, the plot does sound a little too similar to Halloween II. It makes for an interesting idea that could be explored in the future but without the Part III that fans got, Jason wouldn't have gotten his iconic hockey mask that became the face of the series.

Friday The 13th (CW Series)

In an interesting turn of events, Friday The 13th was going to head to the CW as a series. According to SlashFilm, it would have been about a detective trying to find his missing brother at Camp Crystal Lake. It would have led to him investigating Jason Voorhees despite the murders stopping long ago.

It's certainly an idea that seems like it would have taken the franchise in a brand new direction. There was a picture revealed as to what Jason would have looked like had it been picked up. However, the CW was not the best place for it, and instead, it was passed on in favor of Frequency and more Riverdale.

Found Footage Friday

The success of Paranormal Activity led to so many others attempting to replicate it. Of course, one of them would be to turn Friday The 13th into a found footage film which is not the worst idea in the world. Instead of an unseen ghost or entity, footage of a massive masked killer stalking a group of campers could have worked.

A similar idea was used in 2016's Blair Witch sequel. It was announced through the Vice President of Blumhouse at the time but IndieWire reports that producers didn't like the idea and since the movie was originally scheduled for 2017, it would seem that they won.

Freddy VS Jason VS Ash

After years of development hell, Freddy Vs. Jason was finally made which critics hated but audiences enjoyed it and it made its money back. It still is the highest-grossing movie of both franchises which is why it is baffling that sequels were not created. Well, there almost was in the form of Freddy Vs. Jason Vs. Ash.

Ash as in Ash Williams from the Evil Dead franchise. Robert Englund himself even stated that Sam Raimi would have been involved and wanted Ash to win against the slashers. However, the movie never saw the light of day and the concept would instead be reused in the form of a well-received comic book series.
