Following in the footsteps of On My Block, Netflix's lighthearted comedy mystery series Freeridge boasts an impressive and talented cast. As an entirely original spinoff, Freeridge includes a wealth of exciting new characters, making it a worthy addition to the expanding franchise. However, given the crossover between the projects, many viewers are eager to identify new as well as returning characters and how they may fit into the overarching story.
Freeridge shares the same creative team as its predecessor, with Lauren Iungerich, Eddie Gonzalez, and Jeremy Haft working alongside Jamie Uyeshiro, and Jamie Dooner – all of whom previously collaborated on Netflix's hit On My Block. Keyla Monterroso Mejia as Gloria
Like Monsé Finnie in the original On My Block, Gloria is the main protagonist of Freeridge, acting as the driving force behind most of the key quartet's actions. Her occasionally spikey dynamic with her sister Ines is one of the central sources of drama and conflict between the main players, sparking several important plot points. As well as appearing in the On My Block episode "The Final Chapter", Mejia has also featured in several prominent TV shows. Her credits include the likes of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boo, Bitch, and Abbott Elementary.
Bryana Salaz as Ines
Despite working closely with her throughout Freeridge, Ines' relationship with Gloria is an undeniably fraught aspect of the series. Although the sisters share a deep emotional bond, their bickering certainly disturbs the peace. And yet, perhaps because of the rivalry, the two's dynamic goes a long way toward elevating Freeridge beyond a typical teen drama. Like Mejia, Bryana Salaz also featured in On My Block. Additionally, the 25-year-old performer has also appeared in Team Kaylie and The Lion Guard.
Ciara Riley Wilson as Demi
Another key component of the main Freeridge group, Demi provides the quartet's connection to the spiritual world. Her interest in tarot cards and astrology makes her invaluable in unearthing the mysteries of the main cursed box, even when others are skeptical. On My Block spin-off Freeridge represents Riley Wilson's most prominent role to date, with the 20-year-old having a number of smaller parts in projects such as the 2019 Kim Possible movie and the Quantum Leap revival.
Tenzing Norgay Trainor as Cameron
The sole male member of the central gang, Cameron is arguably the most self-effacing main character. He is also more cynical than some when it comes to the more spiritual elements of Freeridge's plot. Tezing Norgay Trainor himself is an experienced young actor, having featured alongside other Freeridge cast members in Boo, Bitch, as well as a lead role in Liv and Maddie. He is also known for his voice acting work in projects such as 2019's Abominable and its spin-offs.
Peggy Blow as Mariluna
Despite previously appearing in On My Block as Ruby's Abuela Marisol, Peggy Blow actually has an entirely new role in Freeridge. In the spinoff, Blow stars as the mysterious Mariluna, who first provides the revelation that the mysterious box at the heart of the action is actually cursed. Beyond her extensive involvement in the On My Block universe, Blow has an extensive CV that includes everything from Dexter to Seinfeld.
Freeridge Supporting Cast and Characters
Zaire Adams as Andre: Cameron's boyfriend, Andre is one of the catalysts for the cursed box story, as Cam initially buys the box as a gift for him in the hope it will prompt a breakup. Adams has also featured in Netflix movie Senior Year.
Paula Garces as Geny: As Ruby’s Mother and Gloria and Ines' neighbor, Garces reprises her role from On My Block, creating another link between the series. Garces also played a major role in TV series All My Children, as well as a recurring part in Chicago Med.
Eric Gutierrez as Ruben: Geny's husband, Ruben is another character who returns from On My Block. Gutierrez also acts as producer on the show, following previous work on Boo, Bitch.
Jean Paul San Pedro as Javier: Replacing the parental figures in On My Block, Javier is Gloria and Ines' dad who is a widower. Beyond Freeridge, San Pedro has also been featured in a number of TV shows, including Suits.
