Free Guy Shawn Levy revealed that he and Ryan Reynolds are set to continue their working relationship after The Adam Project, as the two are currently developing more films together. Their latest film, The Adam Project, is set to thrill fans with its forthcoming premiere on Netflix. The plot surrounds Adam (Reynolds) traveling back in time to team up with his 12-year-old self and family to save the future. The movie also stars Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner, and Zoe Saldaña.

The Adam Project has had a lengthy development period that has lasted almost a decade, with the script being reworked extensively and Tom Cruise dropping out. Netflix eventually picked it up, and Levy and Reynolds stepped in to lead it into their own twist. What resulted is a film that both are extremely proud of, with Levy saying The Adam Project is Reynolds' best performance and Reynolds himself saying he considered this his most personal movie. Levy added that the movie may be a bit more emotional than audiences are expecting it to be.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Levy said he is working on numerous scripts with Reynolds and aiming at developing them further into fully realized movies. He did, however, remain coy on what the films entailed. He was responding to a question probing whether Free Guy 2 or something else will be his next project, to which he responded by saying:

"So Free Guy 2 is in the works. We've been honest about that. There's three or four other movies that are also in the works that we haven't announced. Because now that we're basically veterans of the industry, we know that it's not that big a deal to get a splashy article about something you're developing when we now know that 80% of what we develop never gets made. So we're kind of toiling quietly on the side developing a few different scripts and we will make next, the one that is ready first."

It comes as no surprise that Disney greenlit a sequel for Free Guy since it was both a smash hit with audiences and critics, with some remarking how the coupling of the concept and self-aware humor worked really well. Levy and Reynolds decided that both of their next projects would be another collaboration, so it's apparent that they want to build on their professional rapport with even more movies. It's also worth noting that so far, they have both acted as co-producers in both their films.

Their new film The Adam Project is already garnering early praise from critics, so it looks like they have another hit on their hands. The two seem to be on the verge of creating another famous director-actor duo if they keep being this prolific with great movies. Fans are not only eagerly awaiting the premiere of The Adam Project and Free Guy 2 but also what they're going to do together moving forward. And should The Adam Project be as successful as Free Guy, Levy and Reynolds should have no problem getting studios to pick up their future collaborations.
