Hugh Jackman puts aside their "feud" and extends his congratulations to Ryan Reynolds over Free Guy's success. Last weekend, Reynolds' latest movie, the video game adventure Free Guy, arrived in theaters. The Deadpool actor stars as Guy, a non-playable character in a Fortnite-esque video game who regularly gets beat up by various players. After he meets the woman of his dreams (Jodie Comer), though, Guy's world starts to open up in incredible ways. Directed by Shawn Levy, Free Guy is something of a novelty because it's an original movie as opposed to a sequel or remake.

Ahead of its release, Free Guy earned positive reviews from critics and even became Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Many believed it would earn a total between $15 million and $17 million in its opening weekend, which made its eventual $28 million 3-day gross a very pleasant surprise. Amid this news, Reynolds confirmed Disney is interested in making a Free Guy 2, which is another indicator of a successful debut. As of Thursday morning, Free Guy has earned $57 million worldwide.

Jackman, whose feud/friendship with Reynolds is one of the best things on the internet today, congratulated Reynolds on Free Guy's opening weekend wins on social media. Posting to his Instagram Story (via CinemaBlend), Jackman shared Reynolds' own message of gratitude towards the fans and added his own hearty "Congrats!" The post included a picture of Reynolds and Lil Rel Howery hugging from Free Guy. Check it out below.

On a much smaller level, one could say this celebration also has to do with Jackman. Fans might not have noticed right away, but Jackman has a cameo in Free Guy as an avatar Comer's character speaks to early on. Of course, that's not the same as having a major role in the movie, but Jackman is still technically one of the people who participated in its creation. He was just one of several thrilling cameos; others included Channing Tatum and Tina Fey.

Though their public interactions are often more playfully hostile, Reynolds and Jackman's friendship is perhaps one of the best in Hollywood right now. The two met on the set of X-Men: Origins: Wolverine and have been ribbing each other ever since. Should Free Guy actually produce a sequel, perhaps Reynolds can find a bigger role for his pal. They haven't acted opposite each other in some time, and fans would love to see them partner up again. If it can't be as Deadpool and Wolverine, maybe it'll work as Guy and another NPC.
